THE most overrated game of all time?
Quite possibly....
shareA question: Have you played any of the other video games made in the 1980s?
___
"What does it do?"
"It doesn't do anything. That's the beauty of it."
By saying that, zolty, you've just been scheduled for a revoking of your gamer card. If you don't like the game, then you don't like videogames at all. Plain and simple.
I have to know if she's all right!
Why?
Because I love her!
All right... gay...
It's slightly overrated. Most of the other Mario games are better. But there's no denying this one's importance, or the fact that it's still a fun game, even to this day.
sharelet me guess.... you think first person shooters are really good?

Yes. SMW and SMB3 are much better.
shareStupid fucking troll post.
The game was revolutionary at it's release for featuring side scrolling levels, fluid jumping controls, power ups, coin collectibles, and non linear progression. Most games at the time were linear single screen shooters more focused on point scoring. SMB revitalised the gaming industry folliwing the crash of 1983, and who knows what would happened otherwise. Perhaps no Call of Duties...
I still find this game highly enjoyable today, and that's no small feat after 32 years.
The most overrated games came out two consoles later. Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy VII.
shareI never played Final Fantasy VII but when Ocarina was first released in 1998 I was immersed in it for many months. The world was huge at the time with so many secrets and the graphics were so impressive. I also still find it enjoyable today, although I find that being unable to skip through story text has limited its replay value.
shareI find one of the most overrated games of all time to be Grand Theft Auto III. I find the graphics drab and gray, the choice of cars limited, the aiming system horrrible, and the protagonist who never talks just lame. I never played it on it's first release but can see how it was a big deal at the time. Nevertheless, I still can't get into it and find the game itself somewhat overrated, even if its legacy isn't.
