Old guy and teen girl

What's up with the teen girl at Mimi Rogers house and the gray haired guy? They kissed and were going to take a shower together?

reply

That blindsided me. I was puzzled that Mimi Rogers' character would have a daughter old enough to be making a job or college application. Then I freaked when I saw the kiss and embrace and heard the shower talk. Obviously, since this was on the Left Coast, Mimi's character was tolerant of sharing the house with her ex-husband and his much-younger girlfriend. It was a well-done scene.

It wasn't her ex-husband and his girlfriend, it was her daughter and her much-older boyfriend.

The film was first shown in November 1999, so it was probably filmed in early summer of that year.

Jesse (Tim Daly, age 43) and Marie (Mimi Rogers, age 43) were from the "Class of 1980" so the characters were ~37.

Daphne (Lindsay Sloane, age 21) was stated to be 16.

Joe (Michael B. Silver, age 31) was deliberately cast to be plausible as Marie's husband and Daphne's father; while not being implausible when revealed to be Daphne's boyfriend. One could also presume Joe is meant to be ~26 based on the other actors all being 5–6 years older than their characters.

At the end of the scene, Marie offers the following explanation:

"At least I know where she is at night, and I know she's using protection. It's not perfect, but it works for now."

I'm not one to judge but I personally wouldn't let my daughter at sixteen let her older bf stay at my house let alone date.it caught me off guard but i think that was the point

Mimi Rogers' character says something like, 'At least I know where she is...'

It was kind of shocking. However, not illegal, I guess.
