Good movie!

I thought this was a fairly engaging film, despite a fair amount of negative critique. Titus Welliver's performance was astounding, I felt absolutely terrible for him on several occasions, yet he still came off as a pretty badass dude. The poetry that was spread throughout the narrative was superb, and actually entrancing at times. Fishburne gave a quality performance as per usual. I think everyone can agree with me that his character 'Morpheus' in the Matrix had such a strong presence that I wasn't sure if I could see him in other roles. I thought he might forever be 'Morpheus.' This role completely absolved him of any doubts I may have had lingering.

Anyway, I found this an easy movie to get absorbed in. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an urban drama with a poetic rythm, an engrossing story, a chill soundtrack and a textbook villain. (to a T)

I totally agree. The younger set weren't around for Laurence's REAL hayday, the 80s and 90s. Sure, he netted plenty of bucks for the Matrix films, but he proves over and over again (especially in his early work) that he can make a film dynamite himself, without a $200 million budget.

Precisely, for the bolded. I can't relate when people my age and younger say they couldn't imagine Laurence as anything but Morpheus. It was the same 6 years ago when you wrote this. In high school I would hear that a little too much for my liking. I came up watching Larry in his rising star phase so to me he is Laurence Fishburne the actor/star and not just Morpheus. But I agree with everything else also.

Rest in Peace Al Freeman Jr. An underrated talent and lovely spirit.
