What would it take I wonder ...

For Ash to officially become a Pokemon master.

maybe he needs to be on record as the trainer of a certain number of pokemon? i dunno

Say ten Hail Marys, five Our Fathers, and the Gilligan's Island theme

Noooo....definitely.has nothing to do with how many captured pokemon, at least definitely not in the anime. They purposely made it extremely vague because they knew he would never reach the goal....but they didn't want to make.it something obvious.

It seems to be the bond he shares with Pokemon and the overcoming of his mistakes. While the games relied on you beat the final Elite Four Boss, Lance, and catching every Pokemon; the anime focuses on Ash's bond to his Pokemon.

Think about all the battles he has had and how game logic wise, it would never work out to be the same. He beats some pretty big deal gym leaders with just starter Pokemon because of his wit and the amount his Pokemon like him. Clearly, this is part of the reason he is seen as a Pokemon master.

THERE IS NOTHING TO FEAR. COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS HERE!!!
