Did anyone else try to save passengers at the end? (SPOILER ALERT)

I played this game so much back in the day. Just played it online the other day for the first time in many years. Truly one of the best games ever and I badly wished they made more games like these today.

I remember once I figured out how to complete the mission and leave the Titanic with all the items I needed and get the optimal ending, my next focus was on how many people I could save at the end of the game when Titanic is sinking. I already knew how to save Shailagh Hacker and her baby. I eventually learned how to save Lady Georgia and still get the painting back from Zietel.

The biggest surprise to me was that Jack Hacker actually made it off the ship in the last lifeboat. He seemed like a certain goner after he told Shailagh to get in the lifeboat and she said "No Jack, not without you." Plus he was a male from 3rd class which game him probably about a 10% chance of getting off the ship. But he did it and beat the odds.

I was kind of disappointed that I couldn't convince Claris Limehouse. I tried multiple times to get her to go to the boat, but she was determined to go down with Willie.

But I swear the one that I absolutely wanted to slap the living snot out of was Daisy Cashmore. She could have left in one of the first boats but oh no, she wouldn't leave unless she had people rich and 1st class in her boat. I just wanted to smack her. I can remember I kept trying and trying. I was thinking that there had to be a way to convince her to get on a boat. It got so frustrating. Finally I gave up and learned that saving her was impossible. When I replayed it I laughed when I went back and got the dialogue about how she wanted to go in the boat with the Astors and Benji Guggenheim. Good grief what a dumb stuck up airhead she was.

How did Jack make it out though? What proof of this was there?

During the sinking, right before the last two life boats leave, Jack appears on deck near the 2nd class stairwell and informs you that the Captain asked him to row one of the lifeboats.

Then, if you are still on the ship after the last life boats leave, Jack's no longer there, but all the other passengers you interacted with during the game who didn't make it off are shown on deck. That pretty much indicates that he got off on one of the last lifeboats that had Shaeligh and Lady Georgia in it. The one that Office Morrow says he'll let you in if you try to help the other passengers
