The scenes where they're just sitting and talking are very staged. Note the many cuts and different camera angles while they're having a simple chat. The dialogue switches back and forth from Italian to Russian as if Guerra and Tarkovsky are fluent in both languages, which could be true but even then, why switch language so often? Later on in another scene Tarkovksy has someone translating Italian into Russian for him.
shareOf course they're staged - but that was the intention. It was deliberate. What wasn't staged though are the thoughts expressed by Tarkovsky. Why switch the language? Why NOT? You think Tarkovsky spoke fluent Italiant? why would he need to throughout the documentary when he WASN'T making it JUST for Italian speaking audience? He spoke in his own language. But I guess that's just something you won't understand.
