The strength of and spirit and transcendent message of the power behind an entire culture proved most effective in La otra conquitsa. The power behind the film's compelling visuals and seamless edits bringing each of the two counter cultures to the screen added to the impact the struggles impeded. Although the recurring theme of the Virgin Mary and the need to restrict worshiping to the Catholic church's practices reinforced the real life conquest of the Catholic ways, it was troubling to watch in how realistic the cruel punishments and hardships recreated in the film.
