Just been thinking, why would a bloke who could have any woman he wants have a butler and not some stunning girls by his side? He is portrayed as a lady's man in the movie (perfect cover BTW).
I reckon that the Pharaoh's butler was his 'special friend' and he caught the Butler and the Baker red handed and that's why he sent them both to jail and then he killed the Baker so that the Butler wouldn't stray again.

sharewell, first off we dont know how often the butler is right by his side. we just the one time when the butler approached pharoah with advice. otherwise he was surrounded by women, didnt see him interact with the butler at all after that. he was also jealous when the women started oggling over joseph instead of him. interesting thoery, but not much to base it on im afraid
