daughter father relationship

whats your views on why there seems to be some wierd tension between the daughter (murphy) and the father? and the part when he leaves and she looks like shes sleep walking??? kreepy and icky

I don't know, but I thought it was a weird relationship. I couldn't help cringing when he was asking Jodie if she was a virgin. I thought there was a lot of sexual tension between the two characters, that it seemed almost incestuous!!

I watched the film last night and my friend and I both picked up on this. It was a very creepy relationship - even when they are practicing self defense, he lands on top of her and seems to stay there for just a little bit too long.

Creepy.

yeah I think it may be alluding to the guilt he feels of having raped that girl and she is suspecting that something is up...so maybe when he lands on her during the self defense lesson its his memory and guilt that makes it awkward?

i watched this movie last nite and it was the weirdest film i think ive ever seen! if im totally honest the reasoning behind me renting it is because it stars the rather wonderful micheal biehn! but lets not get started on that! i think the reason that they kinda slipped in all these little things (the mum flirting with the boyfriend, the freaky father/daughter relationship, the deputy giving jody wierd looks, etc etc) was so that you truely had no idea who the killer is. did anyone else think that as soon as you found out who the killer was the film changed, all of sudden it went crazy! i think by that point they didnt care anymore and just went for humour, but this kinda worked i was laughing in crazy disbelief! and seriously when the (SPOILER!!!) deputy got told the sherrif was dead the camera went into slow motion in the cheesiest way possible!

And also the part when he's teaching her how to defend herself and he's on top of her for a few seconds and they look eye to eye at each other it was a weird moment just before the phone rings. Yeah I def. felt that vibe between them 2 as well.....
