Any plans for a Commercial DVD release of this?

I saw this because I was able to get an old VHS copy off E-bay. I've since tranferred it to my digital recorder and cleaned it up a bit before burning it to DVD but would still like to buy a legit copy. The VHS versions are never as sharp and the colors are never as crisp as what you get on a commercially mastered DVD.

Anyone know if there are any plans of releasing it?

I bought a dvd of this about 3 years ago,I didnt know the film but i knew jonathan taylor thomas. On the dvd box it says the dvd is from 'HOLLYWOOD DVD'
I have seen a few other less known films been produced by this company.Less known but still good!
It says 'hollywood DVD is a trading name of consolidated trading co ltd' I dont know if this means anything but thought i'd mention it.
This is a good film i have been trying to find a music soundtrack for it,no luck yet.

I could not locate the DVD version of "Walking Across Egypt" at www.play.com.

I saw your post about being unable to find this on DVD. When I searched for this on www.play.com today, they had copies on DVD.

Good luck finding a copy. I've watched it several times. It's a great movie, and I plan to get a copy myself.

I read a review from 2001 on amazon.co.uk saying the dvd had special features like deleted scenes and interviews with the cast, but I only have that "Hollywood DVD" standard version. Maybe the previous release had special features as well.

i bought the dvd about 2000/2001 from amazon.co.uk
can't recall any special features

You can buy it at amazon.co.uk... and it's Region 0, so it works in any DVD player. That's the only place I've seen to buy it where it's region 0.

You can get it out of the dump bin at Wal Mart for $5.50 but there are a couple of scenes that are left out of the dvd.The part where the neighbor lady says ,"He's gonna commit sideways." and the part where Mattie repays the reverend for the car damage. Not sure but I think that's all. Why did they do that?

reply

Also, when the dog catcher calls Mattie for his wallet, they took out the scene where she goes and reads the letter from Wesley in the wallet. There was one more scene taken out but I can't remember it now. I don't know why they did that, those were pretty good.

reply

That's where that they took those scenes out because I felt that it was pretty important to the plotline. Mattie paying for the reverand's car showed that she wasn't obsessing over her funeral anymore and plus, it shows just what kind of a person she is.

I bought the tape AFTER getting the DVD so I could see the missing scenes. I don't know why they took them out for the DVD version, they help the flow of the storyline. Maybe they wanted to fit the film on one disc and if they left the missing scenes out they could do that, and if they left them in it wouldn't all fit?

Anyway I'm going to see what I can do to add the scenes back in to the DVD. The tape does not have any copyright protection on it so it's easily transferred with a DVD-VHS recorder combo. Then I can transfer the missing scenes to my computer and add them back in for one complete disc. I hate when they chop up movies. Yes, there are some bad words in it (esp. near the beginning before the boy changes and mellows) but one should expect a pre-prison to be a rough place, so it fits and seems odd to be left out. It's the gratuitious use of curse words - just to put them in a film for no good reason to get an R rating - that most people object to.
