read the book

If you liked the movie, then read the book by North Carolina author Clyde Edgerton. "Walking Across Egypt" is a quirky, memorable story told by a real wordsmith.

I use this book as a "Summer Reading" selection. (I teach in NC, and I loved the fact that Edgerton is a native...) My kids aren't crazy about the book--mostly because they hate reading in the summer!! They LOVE the movie, though--and even the "hard core" cases find themselves laughing!

Personally, I LOVE the book...I laughed...and cried...and I highly recommend!

Ehh, so I'm a High School Junior in Clyde Edgerton's hometown of Apex, NC. I don't think that any student is excited about this book seeing as the first seven chapters are that of introduction chapters. There wasn't a good hooking paragraph. We have an early release tomorrow. So we'll be watching part of this movie. Hopefully this makes up for the week of suicidal thoughts during my reading of this book while I suffered through it. Let me first say that hardly anyone in Apex says "Well, I declare" and "Bless my heart". *shrug*. Maybe they did when this is written. Hopefully the movie is better than the book. And hopefully The Crucible is more entertaining.

Et tu HBO!?
