Well I kind of remember seeing this availble somewhere in 1998, i saw the movie in 2002 (on mst3k)
anyway at a local mom and pop video store i found this a couple months ago (thats probably where I saw it in 1998). and it was under family!
and its case makes it sound like a nice family movie even!
talk about false advertising!
probably the cut version.... omitting those scenes where Merlin's demons catch the unsuspecting pedestrians and serve them to his wife with mashed potatoes and broccoli. and let's not forget the classic sequence where Merlin chokes the guy with his own colon and feeds his hands to the trolls.

They didn't watch it. Maybe half of the clerks back then were video buffs. Mainly it was just a minimum wage gig.
