Anyone know when this movie was produced?

You appear to be partly correct....

The entire "second" story (the possessed Monkey) was literally footage edited and taken from another movie produced in 1984 (called "The Devil's Gift")!!!

(I watched it yesterday and noticed things didn't seem to match with the rest of the MERLIN footage: noticably more grainy film stock, old feathered hairstyles, an E.T. poster in the kids bedroom, etc. It cried out "1980s")'

Why they used that footage as part of an anthology show produced in the 1990's is beyond me...

Thanks for answering my question. Originally I thought maybe they took an old unfinished short and added it to the first part to make a full movie.

Somebody said that the movie The Devil's Gift was the one playing on the t.v. at the beginning of Merlin's Shop before the lights went out.

Wow, the movie's production quality makes a lot more (unfortunate) sense now.
