Question about Last Days of Big Lie

I've been watching The Last Days in my World History class, so I decided to check this board out. I read someone's post about a Holocaust denier making a rebuttal documentary called Last Days of the Big Lie and wondered if that person's claims regarding the untruthfulness of this movie (eg: the diamond swallowing thing) have any merit. Does anyone know if the people interviewed in this movie exaggerated or lied about their experiences?

Its worth a watch... I think many Jews (and other nonjews) suffered greatly & died for no reason... and at the hands of the Nazis... it doesn't make you any less of a person to study both sides for facts to decide what you want to believe... I don't know if they lied considering I wasn't there... but some things are not possible like the black soldier.

I read the guys website. he is an idiot. He believes that Auschwitz had baby rooms and theaters for plays and no ovens or gas chambers and that the British POWs played soccer with the jews. Even though the POWs (antisemitic British with NO reason to lie) said that they smelled the ovens and didn't play soccer with the Jews because they were kept separate from each other.

I haven't seen the Big Lie documentary and if the guy is a Holocaust denier I have no wish to see it. But I do believe Spielberg should have examined a little more critically a few of the tall tales that were told in his documentary. The black soldier, the woman who claimed she escaped from inside a gas chamber and also that she was chosen to have her skin turned into a lampshade. They just didn't seem credible witnesses to me.

Watch it and then comment dip *beep* The Last Days of The Big Lie - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80GgRWuXcO8

"He believes that Auschwitz had baby rooms and theaters for plays"
It's very well documented that the camps had a Kindergarten and a Theater room.

"played soccer with the jews"
There's not only footage of prisoners playing soccer but also of Holocaust survivors happily remembering playing against SS soldiers on the field.

If you had actually watched the documentary you would have realised that it was not the producer of the documentary's views that were claimed, but directly quoted from the testimonies of the survivors themselves.

Here is a youtube link to the survivors testimonies

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=80GgRWuXcO8#t=6567

In summary (directly from the survivors spoken testimony):

--They did indeed play soccer (especially towards the end of the war when German defeat was inevitable).

--They got help and sporting equipment from the German citizens.

--They suffered more when supply lines were cut as camp staff did not have enough to feed even themselves.

--The SS guards eased restrictions when the end of the war was imminent and even participated in the soccer games themselves against inmate teams. One SS guard even played on the Polish team.

--They were indeed given supplies to put on plays in the theatre.

There are plenty more but I doubt your cognitive dissonance will allow you to watch the documentary and see these survivor testimonies for yourself.

I just got done watching it, and yes, Last Days is chock full of BS. It also mentions another "documentary" called "Liberators: Fighting on Two Fronts in World War II" that shows all these black soldiers going back to the camps they supposedly "liberated". Except that there were no black soldiers anywhere near those camps. The press found out the truth and now that "movie" is no longer in circulation.

The Last Days is filled with lies, which is documented in The Last Days of the Big Lie, showcasing how the "survivors" changed and exaggerated their stories from their original 1994 interviews to the 1998 interviews for the movie.

I don't know what kind of school you went to, but you should have your history teacher fired. For not only showing a film in his class room instead of simply teaching history but also because he showed a fraudulent "documentary".

Can we just talk about the creator of "The Last Days of the Big Lie" for a second? It was created by a holocaust denier named Eric Hunt who in 2007 literally grabbed and tried to force Elie Wiesel to do an interview him in a hotel room. He was convicted of battery, elder abuse, and false imprisonment. He has been released now (though was told to undergo treatment), but it is clear that the film came from a place of hate.

(Honestly, his twitter account is 99% telling people to watch his film, with these gems thrown in: "More in favor of the destruction of white people, Osama or Obama?" "I'm proposing a new racial slur for Jews - Hikers" "@henrywinter Sounds pretty *beep* gay to me.")

If you're interested in the exaggerations in the film, however, the figure that stands out as likely doing so was Irene Zisblatt, whom legitimate researchers doubt. Her stories don't add up.

This is very disturbing. IMDB have deleted any comments that speak the truth. Most of these stories were vastly exaggerated, Also notice "The Lone Gunman" the X-Files spin off that predicted 9/11 has had comments deleted. SPOOKY!!!
