Appropriate for children?

I want a way to introduce children, around the age of seven or eight, to the Holocaust and was wondering if this documentary would be a good way. I have my own opinion, but I wanted to know what everyone else thinks. If you don't think this a good way to share the Holocaust to a child, what medium do you think I could use that would be more appropriate?

Pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space 'cos its bugger all down here on Earth.

I do not think that telling children of seven or eight (= grammar school) about details of the H. is a good idea at all!
Let them know that WWII took place and many people were killed and murdered is enough for children of that age, IMHO.

Children should grow up happily to become strong personalities, they should not be confronted with detailed horror.

Thusnelda would no doubt find this literature more suitable for young children. I imagine she thinks it will build the strong personalities for the 'trials' ahead.

Lorelei,

My daughter read Lois Lowry's Number the Stars in 4th grade.

It is more appropriate for that age group, because there are no horrific details about the Holocaust, but rather explains history of WWII and the Nazis in Denmark. It's obvious the horror is clear, but subtle.

Don't show this propaganda piece to your children. If you do, you are no better than the Germans who poisoned the minds of the Hitler Youth.

Rather, you should show your children "The Last Days of the Big Lie". It's for free on YouTube.

At age seven or eight, a child does not poses the critical reasoning skills necessary to handle a piece of propaganda like "The Last Days". Even if you followed the film with a screening of the excellent "The Last Days of the Big Lie" which thoroughly debunks the lies of "The Last Days" your kids still might end up confused. Teaching them about the myths of the Holocaust is something you should wait until 13 or 14 to start getting in to. Until then, I'd advise that you keep them away from all the Holocaust Propaganda because it will simply confuse them (especially since many teachers in the USA genuinely believe this nonsense!).
