Great film
And it just came out on DVD so hopefully people will start to come to this board. I saw it without any idea of what I was going to see (& actually Jiri Barta spoke afterwards!) and was blown away.

It was through FAMU (the Czech film school) which I was involved with earlier in the year. Come to think of it, I vaguely recall hearing him talk about "The Golem" but don't remember details. Will it be stop-motion? The only disappointment for me on the DVD was his live-action short; it seemed rather cheesy compared to the whimsy and invention of his animated works.

The thing is, he was apparently having a lot of difficulty finding funding for such a weird-looking film - he'd get someone interested, and they'd pull out at the last minute. He was saying that he'd produce it as a short if he wasn't able to get the funding for a feature film.
Also chaletfilms.com mentioned about half a year ago that they were doing something with "Barta's next film" but wouldn't say what.
This doesn't ring any bells by any chance, does it?
