Didn't think I was remembered!

I'm back on imdb from time to time, mostly just browsing, the unhealthy thirst for film is still there though, and as long as there's still films i'll be around.

I've been thinking about a quite comeback for some time now. Stuff like Oldboy and whatnot makes me want to jump back in and scream OMGWTF!!!!111! like a newb all over again.

So...watch this space!

Sorry it has taken so long to reply. I've been in NZ for a fortnight over Christmas.

Although I have seen the uncut version, I haven't the slightest idea where it might be now obtainable. Can you believe I have received over 70 emails asking the same question?

The difference is basically in the sexual depiction....way more graphic in the 200 minute plus version. Full vaginal penetration - looks like a medical student's home video after a while! Totally gross - really not something u'd want to watch with your wife/daughter (Oh yuck!)/ girlfriend!

Probably illegal to sell it!

See you later buddy.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TheHood has the left the building, taking only his dignity with him (barely). I think the new image drove away a lot of people, and its the increase in trolls that have made me decide there is not enough left in it to fight for. The horror board i think has undergone a revival, due to you, dochump, bigpap and some dedicated others. I always hung around a few boards though, and the decline of most of them made me quit.

Good luck in the future.

They say no post counts

by - clore_2 on Wed Sep 11 2002 10:03:00

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Because they feel it only makes people post worthless posts just for the sake of increasing the number. Not that it means anything in the case of Jack B. I thought that I read that they fixed the registration-date problem, you might want to ask them directly in the IMDb Information forum.

It ain't easy being green, or anything else, other than to be me

by - clore_2 on Tue Aug 6 2002 08:11:30

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've only had a few minutes with it as it was not working bewfore I left the house, and I had only a little while between meetings at work to check it out.

I do see there is no count, but there is a list of the actual post subject lines at the bottom of the favorites page. Also, I see we can't edit posts anymore. Now, I'm not sure, but it seems there is no way to turn off my PM box, which is no hurt intended to you of course, but I don't want the likes of Jack, Mikey or a few others in my PMs.

I'm going to start clicking on some profiles of others to see what I get, I'll be back at you.

I'll stick with my first choice....

by - buddy3_16 on Wed Jun 30 2004 05:49:50

You. I just sent Deferenz the following message: I picked Golgo because I like his continued participation in the forum and I think he's a great poster in general. I think it will be worth the wait to let him bet the next host. Very true, thinking your list up does take a little while. You will recieve no more pressure from me. Yeah, you're the host of the fifth forum. So far all of the hosts have been posters that regularily visit the boards, which is definitely a good thing. In fact, I was probably the closest to a "newbie" of any of the hosts so far, as I've only been a "regular" since this past winter. I agree, this forum thing has some staying power, Deferenz had a great idea. Your Forum didn’t turn out bad, I just think we lost a few of the horror board posters by making them go to another board. Ha ha, thanks for being kind, but I think it went pretty bad. Mainly because, as you said, we lost too many regular posters by making them go to another board. You're the host so it's up to you, but I would probably just post it on the horror board, at least that's the way my vote will go if you decide to vote on it. Jaws could be interesting, but I've noticed the ones that work the best for the forum are films that few people had seen before. The choice is yours though, and as you'll see, Deferenz gives each host a lot of freedom in how they run their forum. The torch is officially yours!!! Good luck, and I hope you have a great forum! I'm kind of joking, but definitely being 100% serious at the same time.

Review Forum

by - Deferenz on Fri Jun 4 2004 16:10:00

Putting the reviewing film on its own board is an excellent idea. I am all in favour of it. There may be some people who are a little lazy to use the link but I suspect the vast majority of those who participate would agree it was a good thing. The only slight problem I see is that many of the film boards have some very dubious posters ie, idiots! Now I'm not saying its everyone but as I'm sure you're aware, many discussions on these boards seem to turn into things like US vs UK hatred and insane insults reaching 50+ posts over some silly little detail. I would hate to think that the good standards of the horror board were to be dragged down by that riff-raff! I think the horror board has some excellent posters and the standard of the posts in terms of language, maturity, knowledge and manners is an example to many other boards on this site. So perhaps we could all spread our talents to these other film boards? lol. I don't know if it's too late for buddys forum, I'll see if I can get in touch with him, but I think we could definately begin this from the next host. Def. contains scenes of extended peril.

by - Albert_N_Wilmarth on Fri May 28 2004 14:39:53

May I ask what was the one you couldn’t reveal publicly? I was referring to Scifilm, a place you'd find numerous posters who, at one time or another, regularly posted on IMDb's Horror board, and, of course, you would know this, having posted there. When was the last time you visited, Golgo? Don't bother questioning me about this recent name change, because I simply cannot explain why I keep altering it. It's refreshening to see that you have continued to post on the Horror board, and that you have not yet given up on reviving the board to its former glory, and I respect this. I lurk, whenever I can, and if I stumble upon a thread that will finally interest me, I will gladly pounce on it. I have a perfect cure for a sore throat: cut it. Alfred Hitchcock

by - scullyfox on Thu Mar 25 2004 07:59:51

I hope you are well. Remembering how helpful you were last time, I thought I'd drop you another puzzler about horror films! This time I'm after horror films that revolve around the moon - or where the moon features pretty highly. Obviously werewolf movies are the biggy and I'm already using Ginger Snaps, I was just wondering if you knew of any other films that might be useful, particularly those that feature the moon without werewolves. Cheers! Scully The first rule of Smut Club, is that you do not talk about nipples.

Thread

by - Deferenz on Tue Feb 24 2004 05:40:22

could you PM the saved parts of the Jaguar-Wong thread as I'd really like to keep a copy of that. Thanks. incidently, I get the feeling that Jaguar-Wong and Welvis are one and the same, or if not then linked in some fashion. They joined up one day apart, their biographies are written in the same pseudo style banter and they keep dropping odd references to each other when on a thread. From a psychological point of view, people who try and work this duality cannot help but lay clues or divulge their identity in some fashion because without them getting some form of recognition they feel unforfilled. Just thought I'd mention it here rather than cause a war on the boards. I just remember all the trouble Sketchy caused. Have a stop by their profiles and posts and see what you think. Anyway, back to the message board... Def.

Thanks Golgo

by - Deferenz on Mon Feb 23 2004 05:11:19

Ive just had a look for that thread and if my eyes do not decieve me the whole thing has been completely removed. I then checked my profile to see if my particular posts on the subject were there, but no, completely vanished. Not even spaces saying deleted were left. It is as though they never existed.Would this have been done my the admins ? If there anyway of salvaging the good bits ? Anyway, I never had a chance to save any of it. Pity though. People like Jaguar-Wong really make me angry (as you probably noticed). Anyway, thanks for the PM, its really appreciated that you lent your support. Def.

... very amusing about the deleted posts. I know he was just blowing. I would've loved seeing you throw down on him though. I don't know whether to thank or curse my brother for the Kill Bill copy. I love it and all, but it's starting to monopolize my free time. I saw it several times in the theater, but having it like this I keep thinking of little things I want to go back and take a look at. It pretty much took over my life for a week there. As for Miramax, I keep thinking back to the release of Gangs of New York. Not one of my favorite Scorsese movies, but some people I know loved it, and couldn't wait for a director's cut dvd. They were very let down by the hack job that came out. It was obviously heavily edited for the rating. If Miramax wouldn't give Scorsese a directors cut, I don't see them having a problem shooting Tarantino down. I'll say a prayer for the uncut version though. Well I hope you make a serious christmas haul, I got the first season of Cracker on dvd. Been waiting for this series to come to dvd for a while, no extras but I had to have it anyway. Not horror, but deals with horrific crimes, and is the best acted drama ever. In my opinion. Gettin' out of here, hope you get something cool in your stocking... like a severed foot! Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the heads up on this great game! Since you gave it the good words you did, I picked it up faster than I normally would have. I was very pleased! It was great hearing Brian Cox as the director. I'm a pretty big fan of his, and this added greatly to my enjoyment. It was a very explicit game, and I'm very glad games are starting to move into this adult area. Horror games particularly, are becoming less gamey and more of an experience. I love this. Since nothing much is happening moviewise for me(horror anyway, last dvd I bought was Switchblade Sisters), I'll let you go. Thanks again for the heads up, and talk at you on the board.

by - emineric on Mon Dec 15 2003 13:01:39

i think i was just upset seeing a thread of such length devoted to dario. upon further review(after i wrote my piece) i noticed it was not so. it just seemed like it was more of his shenanigans, threatening to leave the board again, or maybe kill himself(as he said in a response to me once). and yes i was referring to the way you specifically do that to me, not the general public. it seemed everytime i respond to a controversial topic you have something to throw back in my face. oh well, i'm sure one day we'll see eye to eye on something. also i noticed in a recent review dario wrote, can't remember the movie, was in perfect english. which struck me as odd considereing i could never really understand his choppy sentences. you think he hired a proof reader, or just english grammar hit him like a brick and he gets it now?

A little respect...no ass kissing...

by - ElectrocaineXxX on Sun Dec 14 2003 05:48:06

I read the entire thread about Dario 2 (I have THAT much time on my hands...sigh...) and I just wanted to say that I learned a lot about how the Horror board functions. I gained much respect for you as a result of it as well. I felt you handled yourself with decorum even at times when the whole thing just spun out of hand. From this I have read over recent posts and can say I am further impressed with your character. I find that you discuss without bias or defense and show respect to those around. I don't see that you force your ideas on fellow posters or come at their ideas with vemon. I have also seen you point out positive issues in others posts or responses. I have found that rare with many on these and other boards. Mostly, people say they are open to opinion as long as you share their opinion. But you seem to be cool about the back and forth that these boards are meant to be. =) Sorry...I'll stop. Like I said, I'm not trying to kiss ass. I know you are a long time poster here and I just wanted to let you know that some of us appreciate a person who 'new kids' can bounce thoughts off of. We've never commented on anything yet however. I've done a couple with Snake 666 (but how can you not), and I've made a few 'fluff' posts. But I do know what I'm talking about and I look forward to 'sparing off' with you on topics in the future. LOL Thanx for your time, Wes

No prob , I am not concerned in the politics of lesser boards anymore
by - phanta-2000 on Fri Dec 12 2003 16:32:26

This guy BO PEEPS posts on the horror board , he speaks in a medieval tongue like a Mountyphile from film general, he's not a bad sort, he's ticked about the posters on the Sandbox posting for ego boosts and getting replies by begging , I see his point, really. He was comparing these posters to JACK-B , they did not have a clue what he meant. I have a razor in my room, Big, sharp and sexy.

what's your definition then?

by - emineric on Fri Dec 12 2003 11:08:45

what did you mean, back it up? you guys use the term troll quite often, was i supposed to read through the archives and find examples, and then possibly using MLA citation i could give the links in a bibliography? you take this *beep* way too seriously man. are trolls not people who don't know much about horror, or posters who only give one line responses that offer nothing substantial to continue a thread? you tell me man, since you guys are the ones who throw the term around. what is a troll? ps: i love how you always take a sentence from my threads, place them at the end of your posts with a lyrical jab or two thrown in. that must make you feel real good. now i could have replied to you on that everlasting thread, but i'd rather just end it now, between you and me. i'll let you give me your definition, which i'm sure won't differ much from mine, and we'll move on to finer posts perhaps involving the nuances of a good decapitation scene.

I think we got off on the wrong foot. You will probably have to look at your old post to even remeber who I am. You replied to one of my post this evening. I just wanted to apologize. You were so right. I am VERY new at this. I should have read the whole thread instead of just writing something. I just kinda felt sorry for the guy that said he was leaving the horror message board. i should have read further. I did not mean to offend you. You seemed like you were very discusted with me. Like I said I am new. I have to get used to all of it. I don't get much time to do this but I like movies and enjoy hearing other people's opinions of them. I also have alot of questions to post because I remeber bits and pieces of old movies but never the titles. I finally found a place where I can find some answers and I love it. I don't have alot of time to use the computer I am a mommy to two small children and I usually just get on here at night when my husband and kids are asleep. But I really enjoy it and I hope that there are no hard feelings. I think my post made you kind of angry and I apologize. I hope there is no harm done. Thanks again birvin

No its true, you have defended this place ardently since the Jack-b trouble, and I have always enjoyed watching you slice the fools and idiots into ribbons. You have always been fair too, never going after someone unless they really asked for it.Funny you mentioned big pappa,I just responded to his post.I was thinking the same thing about him,he deliberately posts against the grain for attention.28 days is a true homage to Romero, one of his faves,so it just doesn't add up. On DVD MANIACS.NET I post as Sardonicus(as if the classic horror showdowns ain't enough to give me away)bensonmum posts there, and Gary Banks(evilskippy from sci-film)posts there too. It's one of the most informative places around, with great info on new dvd's.(tell Snake about it too,its right up his alley) I think what I have of 28 Days is a DVD-R,or homemade dvd,but it looks terrific, maybe better than what people are seeing in the theater from what I hear. Glad you liked THE INVISIBLE MAN,Rains is amazing, ain't he?You ought to know my answer about THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON,it is the 50's equivilant of ALIEN,and every bit as good.Come to think of it,we talked about HUMANIODS FROM THE DEEP before, and while the gillman doesn't drag any toppless babes into the ocean, there is an almost erotic swimming session with Julia Adams and the Creature, perhaps the artistic highpoint of the film. I don't think Capkronos was referring to you,if you have a god complex, then I'm joining the pantheon too.

We're all living in a strange world. I did see the post you salvaged from sketchy's frantic deleting. The backtrack function of your web browser has so many good uses, doesn't it? Thanks Golgo,

by - Leroy Gomm on Fri Jul 4 2003 07:35:21

Thanks for the kind words Golgo,it means a lot to me.I've always felt you to be the heart and soul of the horror board, and its greatest defender. The unmoderated nature of the place forces us all to ban together and speak up agianst the idiot children and such that infest it with thier crap. The idea of having a few militant gays on board using the board as a platform is nearly as awful.I only voiced an honest opinion, which is what I always do,but apparently because I wasn't exercising political correctness I don't have the right to speak my mind.I responded on finalexams thread with my fondness for Clive Barker's talent in an effort to bring his thread out of the political arena and back on topic, but somehow I wound up being labeled a homophobe.Soon after I was also labeled a tyrant.I've never gone out of my way to offend anyone unless they asked for it,but these guys take everything you say as an attack on themselves personally. In thier minds the whole world revolves around thier struggle for acceptance, and you better not get in the way with any insensitive comments. I think for the most part these guys come and go,they really only want to find others that share thier veiws, but in the end they are not here for the long haul.We had some nut like that a few years ago (joe buck),he wanted to be the political niceness policeman, and as vigilant as he was he didn't last. I will post here again, though probably not quite as often as right now I enjoy the Maniacs board much more.Oh yes, watched 28 Days last night, best horror film since the Ninth Gate (imo).I've nothing negetive to say,it takes inspiration from Romero's famed trilogy and really runs with it,an instant classic. I'll see you around soon and thanks again, Tony.(Leroy Gomm)

Your thread of PMs you've received and have posted on "your" Golgo-13 board is very amusing. I just discovered it while clicking around the site. Clicking around the site...or spying on me?

I do not recall ever inviting you to my board, let alone giving you permission to read its contents. And you’re darn lucky you decided against posting there. Forget everything you saw and burn all the copies you made posthaste. With all that out of the way, I’m glad you got a kick out of it. At the time, a couple months before you registered, IMDb was adding a time-deletion to people’s PM boxes to save on storage space. They gave a notice and I didn’t want to lose all that “history” so I simply sifted through my 150 or so PMs and posted the more interesting ones there for safekeeping. Now, you will be an insignificant part of that “history” as well. You should feel honored.

P.S. It’s better to give than receive.

I've only been here a year and a half, but every other time other people have seemed annoyed, either at the "summer season" or trolls or whatever, I haven't been, because there were enough good posts that I could ignore the problem. Also, a lot of people seemed "on it": calling people out, hijacking troll threads, whatever. This is the first time I've been really annoyed by a "board problem." I feel like the people who are posting are drowning out more interesting content, and only a few people seem to be commenting on it. I'm usually so nonconfrontational, but I've been calling people out a lot lately. I'm sure it will pass, like most of these things do, but its been aggravating. Although, I mangaed to spend an hour on the board this morning. Which hasn't been the case lately cause there wasn't enough to read. So maybe its getting better? Anyway, thanks for noticing!

No do not mourn him. He was dead long before we ever touched him.

Hello mate,

You know how you trawl through posts and one click leads to another which leads to another etc?

Well, I found myself on a long thread who's posters names read a bit like this:

[ignored]
Golgo-13
[ignored]
Golgo-13
[ignored]
hpooh-1
[ignored]
hpooh-1
[ignored]
Golgo-13
[ignored]
Golgo-13
[ignored]

Without even looking at the posts from you and hpooh-1 I knew what was going on and who it involved. I then read the posts to find both of you replying to [ignored] and discussing name calling and general anger at [ignored].

What I find funny is that I only have one person on ignore and that is because that individual winds me up with their obnoxious and know-it-all attitude. Also this person must be glued to their keyboard and going for some kind of posting record because every single bloody thread seems to have them on it. If I had a £1 (or $1) for every [ignored] post I see, I'd be rich.

It's just interesting to see I'm not the only one who gets annoyed with this poster. I'm not really a great user of the ignore function and a poster really has to go that extra mile for me to use it. But since using it on this person I must admit the horror board seems a much better place!

Def.

Spudgun, one potato or two?

This is, like, so last week’s news.

Short Story Contest...

by - Insanislupus on Fri May 30 2008 13:09:05

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
while I read all of them and voted, had some horrible stories. All but a few were nothing more than uninspired rough drafts, and the few that were readable did little, if anything for me. I was suprised to see you being so kind in your remarks, but figured you, like me, read all of them, thought you should at least vote, and voted for the ones you didn't absolutely hate.

I don't think, therefore I am not.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But I’ll address it since you beckoned. I did read each one. After I read each one, I gave it a rating of 1 through 10, and that’s how I came up with my votes. My highest vote was a generous 7, lowest was a 3, of which there were several. I may have had a 2, even, but I can’t recall. As you can see, I wasn’t all that impressed either, though I did think the ones I voted for were genuinely decent. If I came off as kind with my remarks, that’s simply because I was trying to be positive about them. I do apologize for that.

Have a Lindseytastic weekend.

Have your own weekend!

by - Insanislupus on Fri May 30 2008 15:28:12

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I work Saturday, Sunday, Monday, 13 hours each!

John Lindsey works the same days, for the record.

I think I'm finally going to get one of my short stories published, in a real publication, unlike that abomination that published your review.

I will keep you posted. You should try and get published, too. While I hate your guts and wish nothing but the worst of venereal diseases upon you, I do (on very rare occasions when I'm running a fever and my sodium is low) enjoy your writing, if only your PM's and random musings.

Being taught by Frank X. Walker (my mentor), and then meeting his mentor, Gurney Norman, who liked my writing, has been such an inspiration. I figured I'm giving you the nod now. You should feel as special as the day HE was born.

I don't think, therefore I am not.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ah, you’re right. His work is never done. It sounds like you’ll be receiving training from the Leader Himself this long weekend, in hot, grueling, sweaty thirteen-hour increments. Lucky. He gave me the weekend off so I’ll be filling the leisure time as usual with my favorite hobby; deep, relaxing Lindseytation.

I accept your unwavering hate for me and slight appreciation of my writings in equal stride. I believe I am a capable writer, when inspired. I am rarely inspired. But I am published, abomination or not. Until you gave me the “nod,” that was the third proudest moment of my life, right after having my umbilical cord removed and having it reattached to Him. My only hope now is that I don’t embarrass X Walker when I add my pale voice of color to the Affrilachian arts.

Do keep me posted on what rag begrudgingly decides to plagiarize your short gorno effort about inbred Affrilachians terrorizing backwards mountain folk from West Virginy so that I can avoid picking up a copy. Then PM me a free copy so I can plagiarize it for the next horror board contest. Hey, any way you can get your stuff out there, right?

Halloween Challenge '08

by - seth-yeah on Thu Sep 4 2008 11:48:49

Hi Golgo,
I was going to offer to host the Halloween challenge for the board again this year. Last year you gave a lot of good input so, since it took a lot of time last year, I thought I'd ask if you'd help "co-host." I guess, answering questions and coming up with the rules.

I think I saved the threads from last year, so I can send you our old rules and discussions. Then we could revise whatever. Our contention last year, if I recall correctly, dealt with short films/feature films and multiple/repeat viewings. Somewhat of an abuse of "Masters of Horror" definitely occured

I think I could do the tallying of final results but wouldn't mind some help answering questions and devising the rules (& enforcing).

What do you say?

100 Scariest Films

by - mjf314 on Sat Sep 6 2008 16:50:25

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In your profile you have a link to the The Horror Board's Top 100 Scariest Films (2004/2005), but the link is broken. The 2004 list is still on the Repulsion board, but I can't find the 2005 list anywhere. Can you please send it to me? I'm interested in seeing it.

(Forgive the late response. Have been lazy).

Thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate the thoughts and feedback. I was worried it was a jumbled mess and it's good to know it wasn't a complete failure.

And, thanks for being such a consistently good contributor to this place. You've definitely always stood out in the crowd.

This is my favourite thread that I've seen today but given the state of the board lately(again. And again... these old PM's prove it has lways been so), that's not saying much.

It's sad to realise we've never exchanged PM's (as far as I can remember). Infact, I very rarely receive any PM's at all. Am I really that wishywashy (so nobody ever feels the urge to agree/disagree with me on the QT) or am I just intimidating? I guess I'll never know...

Unless you tell me.

Behold the metatron!
