Hey, They've Got Tacos!

My GOD that was funny! In the MST3K cut, when her dad slaps her in the diner, and right after that the guy sitting double takes toward the door, and Mike says "Hey, they got tacos!" Funniest riff, hands down!

Lol I love that bit. I always wonder if anyone noticed that too.

Pepsi payed handsomely for that product placement.

Seiously I've seen this movie at least 50 times. Whenever I feel down I put in GiGB and it cheers me right up. I consider the movie to have two parts, the first on ending when they pick up Critter on the "sidewalk". I like the first half better and usually by that time I'm smiling again. Hell sometimes even just the Eat phase does it.

Pretty sad I suppose but it works for me.

Oh, what were those jokes in Laserblast about the kid having Coca Cola? Something like "Pepsi payed good money to have Coke in this movie!" And something about Coke having to do some sort of ad to undo the damage of the scene

*grabs microphone* DEEP HURTING! DEEP HURTING!

reply

Lmao! Yeah Laserblast, I remember that line. I got the whole series on DVD, I'll have to catch that one again, I like the 70's cheeese. Angels Revenge is another one. Gotta love the ending on that one, the aliens zap him and your just kinda like, thats it?

Love your quote by the way. Frank rules!!

The Whole series?! In the words of Napoleon Dynamite, "LUCKY!" I have Seasons 2, 4, and 7, Volumes 4, 6, and 7, The Essentials, and single episodes Manos, Mitchell, and Red Zone Cuba. That's a total of 49. One day I hope to have the whole series. And during the credits of Laserblast, they're going over the ratings of Leonard Maltin. That was funny.

*grabs microphone* DEEP HURTING! DEEP HURTING!

reply

Lol yeah Leonard Maltin! I remember that bit. Luckily I acquired the whole run one or two seasons at a time. It Wasn't cheap and it takes up ALOT of room for all those cases. Bit it's totally worth it for a MSTIE.

They are really good quality too. The only episodes with so-so quality are the KTMA and some season one, but those are pushing 20 years old and so low budget it looks ok anyhwow.

I got all the Rhino releases too but you'll never see all of MST released by them.

I bought season 2 almost a year ago, nice quality, only cons, the video has a little trailing, and on some episodes the sound is really muffled, Rocketship XM, Jungle Goddess, Wild Rebels, Rocket Attack USA, but besides that, it's very nice, I bought Seasons 4 and 7 at the same time a few weeks ago, Season 7's quality is very nice, a few episodes, the sound's a littl emuffled, but not as bad as season 2. Season 4 I was kinda let down on, the quality on some is awful. Firemaidens from Outer Space. Fair sound quality, awful video quality. Ever played the game Descent, or Descent II, by Interplay, or Macplay, if you're on a Mac? When you get close to something like a wall, and it looks really pixelated, that's what a lot of Season 4 looks like. Some are pretty good, though, like, I was very pleased with The Beatniks. Around my season 2 quality.

*grabs microphone* DEEP HURTING! DEEP HURTING!

reply

Wild rebels. "I'm in it for the kicks baby!" Lol. I know what you mean about the picture and sound. Some of my very early episodes are like that. The later ones are fine with one or two problems here and there. The guy I got them from was very professional and sent me out new disks if I had any problems. You might want to check out "surgekeeper" on EBay. He has a excellant rating and is a great guy as I've said.

I'd say my favorite epidoses are..
Girl in Gold boots
Touch of Satan
Sidehackers
Legend of Boggy Creek 2
and Merlins Shop of Mystical Wonders

Those movies are just full of material. And I like Mike and Joel 50/50 and definitely prefer TV's Frank and Dr. F.

*grabs microphone* DEEP HURTING! DEEP HURTING!

No prob. Thats who I got all my stuff from. When I first ordered I had a problem with CD-R disks so he replaced the whole season with CD+R which is what he uses now. I've used two different players one 5 years old, one new and the other on the computer with no problems whatsoever.

He has different seasons up there all the time but if you message him he will get you what you need. And like I said his rep is solid, just go through his customer comments so you don't have to worry. There are some shady operators out there.

Hope that helps. Gotta keep MST alive!

Thanks! Because I'm thinking of buying season 1 in a few days, once I get payed for watching my cousin.

I'd say my favorite episodes are
1. 321 Santa Clause Conquers the Martians
2. 424 Manos The Hands of Fate
3. 212 Godzilla VS Megalon
4. 820 Space Mutiny
5. 410 Hercules Against the Moon Men

*grabs microphone* DEEP HURTING! DEEP HURTING!

Space mutiny is also one of my favorites. The oily guy Kalgon and our hero Big McLargehuge. Gotta love the night club and the Enforcers killer golf carts. But there are so many episodes I really enjoy those are just the top few. Let me know how those episodes turn out for you when you get them.

Hah, I was bored so I just watched it again. I love the 1980's low-budget vision of the future with the C64 clone computers and the crappy graphics. Oh and how they gave that dead woman who got shot by Kalgon another chance at her job.

And of course the fact that they ripped off the exterior scenes from Battlestar Gallactica and that all the "engine room" of the spaceship and other sequences are filmed in some old factory with big windows and brick walls.

Well, I've had Volume 4 which has Space Mutiny for about a week, seen the episode, geez, maybe 10 times. A great episode. The movie actually has a high watchability rate to it, it's also SO bad it's funny! By the way, why did MacPearson have the limp? He had it throughout the entire movie and they never explain why!

*grabs microphone* DEEP HURTING! DEEP HURTING!

reply

Lol the limp I think Kalgon beat him up at one of their meetings. And yeah I have seen it many times too. My favorite always will be Girl in Gold Boots though.

----------------

reply

You sure like that one. The first time I watched it I fell asleep, although. Not out of boredom, because I was tired. Girl in Gold Boots, Escape 2000, The Rebel Set, Deathstalker and the Warriors From Hell, I fell asleep during all of them. I have a tendancy of doing that.

*grabs microphone* DEEP HURTING! DEEP HURTING!

reply

Lol Escape 2000. Pretend its The Bronx even though its really Italy. Theres a few throughout the 10 seasons that will put me to sleep. The worst ever without a doubt is Hamlett. Why they did that one I don't know. It's on one of the boxed sets, I never even watched more than half of it. MST couldn't even make it funny enough to watch.

But Girl in Gold Boots is just one of those that no matter how much girlfriends, friends, and others think I'm crazy for it, I still love it. I've thought of buying another set just so I can have another copy in case this one gets messed up. Lol.

----------------
I am Torgo. I watch over the place while the master is away.

reply

Oh great, Hamlet, you had to say Hamlet. That's one I have on volume 4 with SM, OATMB, and GIGB. On the boxed sets, there's usually one I don't watch for a while. On 6 it was Teenagers From Outer Space, on 7 it's Killer Shrews, and on 4 it's Hamlet

*grabs microphone* DEEP HURTING! DEEP HURTING!

reply

Yeah I don't know what the Rhino guy was smoking when he decided to go with Hamlet on that set. Teenagers isn't that bad besides the giant killer lobster shadow. I thought the girl in it was cute for some odd reason, meh. More stinkers were Attack of the Giant Leeches and Gunslingers. Theres so many good episodes they could have picked. The Killer Shrews also has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

----------------
I am Torgo. I watch over the place while the master is away.

reply

I thought Teenagers was an okay episode. Not the worst I've seen, but definately not the best I've seen. Giant Leeches Was just all right. Kinda weak riffing. Same for Gunslinger. I thought Volume 6 was kind of a weak one. But luckily they patched up good with 7. 7 has some great stuff on it.

*grabs microphone* DEEP HURTING! DEEP HURTING!

reply

7's so-so

Best parts of disk 7 are the kickass short Junior Rodeo Daredevils, "Smothered in gravy... Texas style!!" Which is on one of the shorts collections and one of my favorites.

And

Episode 816- PRINCE OF SPACE - Best episode in set. "When will you learn your weapons are useless against me!" And the aliens costumes, LOL!

The Hercules movies are ok. Hercules is like totally the the bizarro version of Kevin Sorbo's version in the TV show which is funny.

I'd say my favorite release has been set four because it has my personal favorite Girl in Gold Boots and also the equally great Space Mutiny. Overdrawn at the Memory Bank is good just because Raoul Julia was 5 million times to good an actor or that part. Plus the continuing Fatman jokes are funny asd hell. "What do we do now sir??" "EATTT!!"

But it does have Hamlet which we agree sucks so that brings it down a notch. Set five is good too with another of my favorites The Touch of Satan. Boggy Creek, Merlin's Shop and the pathetically bad Time Chasers mean theres not one movie I don't like. So five would win if it had Girl in Gold Boots, but it doesn't five wins! Hehehe.

reply

Personally I like Hercules against the Moon Men best. It's one of my favorites. I think in 7 My favorites go:

Herc. Against Moon Men
Prince of Space
Herc. Unchained
Killer Shrews

And I did like that Kevin Sorbo Hercules show. That was funny. Too bad it's not on anymore.

And the Fat Man jokes are great as well

"I gotta get me that SOUP!"
"TO WENDY'S!"
(When he enters the resturaunt) "KITCHEN ALERT!"
(Same Scene) "Aw, I wanted the Prime Rib special!"
I think something like "You're Mine!" "WITH BUTTER!"

I haven't seen Hamlet yet. I've been avoiding it for fear that it would put me to sleep. The movie itself. Really, the only con MST3K has is the movies. Sometimes the movies are so bad, and boring, they have very little to work with. Rhino seems to put some of the worst episodes on the volumes. But personally, I think my least favorite of the series that I've seen, is Ring Of Terror from season 2. I've got this program on my computer called Wire Tap, you can record sound clips from stuff, so I record funny riffs from MST3K episodes, I've gone through all of season 2 now, besides Sidehackers and Catalina Caper, I don't have those, and I got 50 from Rocketship XM, 43 from Jungle Goddess, 47 from Rocket Attack USA, 60 from Wild Rebels, 58 from Lost Continent, 53 from King Dinosaur, 47 from First Spaceship to Venus, 114 (big one!) from Godzilla VS Megalon (one of my favs!) 73 from Godzilla VS the Sea Monster, and guess what got the lowest! Ring of Terror with a lowly 25. I have a small like 10 minute Clip of Hellcats from a Video, and I got 7 from it. People seem to say Hellcats is the weakest of Season 2. I couldn't say, as I've never seen it. But I feel Ring of Terror is the Low Point.

*grabs microphone* DEEP HURTING! DEEP HURTING!

reply

I use creative wave editor to record clips. I got tons. But yea the fat man jokes were a "gas". Everywhere he goes hes panting and farting and thinking of food. Sidehackers is great too. "Now that sidehacking has gotten so popular its nice to see its humble origins." And the song.. "Sidehacking is the thing to do, And it doesn't hurt to have a low IQ." Joel's music numbers were so cool. Ring of Terror is where they dare that college kid to take that dead guys ring isn't it? If so yea it sucks.

Nothing against T.V.'s Frank, but they should NOT have let him pick the movies they watched. He too often went for dull and bad instead of cheesy and bad. That's why there are so many more quality ones in the last seasons without him. Gah, if I had to watch one more Coleman Francis or Roger Corman epic, I would have lost it! There are only five of my favs that come from the Joel and early Mike years because of that fact. My list:

Pod People, Manos, Teenage Strangler, Santa Claus, Fugitive Alien. The others are Space Mutiny, Riding With Death, Timechasers, Girl In Gold Boots, Merlin's Shop of Mystical Wonders, Parts the Clonus Horror, Puma Man, Werewolf, Jack Frost, Agent For H.A.R.M, Hobgoblins, The Touch of Satan, and the Final Sacrifice.

reply

Definitely my favorite riff from this episode as well.

Also love the scene in the diner where the icky elf just appears out of nowhere while neither Critter nor Michelle take any notice. "Come on, I just teleported! It's impressive!"

And my five-year-old mentality loves, "I'm going to go over here and fart."
