Sorry to bother you but I just watched the movie on german TV, but unfortunately I only watched about 1/4 of it because i tuned in too late. Could anybody tell me about Winonas heart problem and why she had to die (why no transplantation?)? and maybe someone even remembers the name of that illness...?! i would aprecciate your help!

shareActually we are told what is causing the illness, it is a kind of a tumor neuroblastoma, not cancer, and it is placed near her heart, and pressing it because it is growing, so the blood can´t float. There is to big a risk to operate because it is so close to the heart. I just love the mowie if U haven´t then watch it all it is so catching.....

shareNeuroblastoma is, unfortunately, cancer! It could be congenital or appear in early infancy. Like in the movie, some patients reach 18 years old. Now, there are 3 types of aggressiveness. The earlier stages are curable in low risk cancers. The story in this movie is partly unbelievable. Neuroblastoma is treated with chemotherapy and surgery. Relapses are frequent in high risk cases. Surgery alone does not work in late stages. Being a cancer it also disseminates in other organs (metastases)...so the movie is wrong from the medical point of view.

sharedude, one of my cats had something that sounds kinda like that. there was so much pressure around his heart that it finally burst when he was two. I haven't seen this movie so I don't really know what happens.
