Sadly, there are a lot of heartless people in the world today. Its easy to conclude that this must be a very cynical, uncultured, and hateful age. At least, the bad ones seem to make the most noise.

The premise was ok if in better hands but the acting (especially Gere) was woeful.
Slow pace, terrible dialogue (too many poetry quotes in meaningless moments) and un-engaging characters

Royale with cheese!

The only thing I hated about the film was the ending. Somehow I think if Winona's character had survived the surgery, people would have liked it more.

That being said, I thought that made the movie rather predictable, but I guess I recommend it if you're into tearjerkers (this movie made me cry more than any other film I know of).

"O Death, where is thy sting? O Grave, where is thy victory?"

I liked it too. Its very moving. Good, solid movie.

Off course it's a beautiful movie about a miserable woman dying in scorbut and Gere watching her die with all his poor acting skills and sad eyes.

I don't remember the movie as being particularly great but it does have one of my favorite titles for a movie. just saying the title "Autumn in New York" makes me want to sigh.
