2 episodes at midnight on the East coast. Check your local listings. I watched it for the first time last night. Ted Danson is a doctor in the Bronx that gets really annoyed by everything and has short hair He also smokes cigarettes occasionally and annoys people in a small diner.
When does this show hit it's peak? Who is the best character? Why should I watch?
Watch because it's funny, he's honest, and surrounded by some decent people who work hard.

Becker works as a doctor and yes he's certainly doing a good job, and so is Margaret. But neither of them is a workaholic.
Linda fumbles to life, Jake doesnt have much of a job, Reggie is actually pretty bad at her job, and its a running joke that Bob mostly avoids working altogether.

ha ha. working hard doesn't mean succeeding. they're indeed spinning their wheels, but working hard at it.
I was quite happy to find Becker scheduled at midnight & 12:30am on ANT TV. I look forward to seeing it again, as I'd watched it during Beckers original run. Fun episodic with small ensemble cast who are enjoyable to keep up with. Some of the quirks are extreme, but no more so than some of the 'characters' that I think we all find in our daily lives~though these might be a bit more funny than ours. The cast had some changes through its run, with fairly smooth transition without repetition of character. I highly recommend this for good hearted laughs.
