what a great film
Svitati is a superb film. Its a very simple clean movie and very easy to watch. I like the Italian / French and American locations. It’s just a really good film with some very funny scenes and very likeable characters

shareyeah it is, i don't know why its rated so low.
It's quite enjoyable
I wonder why it wasn't released theatrically here. I knew it was coming because I saw a mention of it in a gossip column in 1998 so I figured, "Great, another Mel Brooks comedy." But it went straight to video in this country. I guess it wasn't a good film.
shareI liked it too.

Well, if the pretty locations are the best thing you can say about the movie, then maybe it deserves a 2.6 rating.
The movie was just a formula movie. All the jokes could be seen a mile away and most were executed poorly. Mel Brooks may have been a brilliant writer, but he was always a poor actor. He way overacts and mugs for the camera.
This doesn't have the script to overcome the bad acting.
I mean seriously, who didn't know that Puccini would end up dating the doctor by the end of the movie? Hands up anyone? I didn't think so.
Mel Brooks was just going through the motions in this movie.
