Has anyone seen this? Is there any video or DVD ?

reply

I wasn't even aware of it's existence until now. I will try to find out any info and post back here.

Yeah It was on SBS (Aussie TV) a while back and managed to record it. Its deffinatly up there with the best war films ever made.
As far as a DVD release i haven't seen or heard anything about this being released.
Generally with older films and TV serious being re-released onto DVD it is only if there is a great demand for it.

I never knew the film existed until tonight! And I'm always looking for Russian films about the Second Wold War. It's illogical that no Russian film couldn't exist about their greatest victory. Also rather amazed at how Powers Boothe came to be cast as the victorious General Chuikov!

I saw it quite a few years ago on the tv, and would've instantly changed the channel, but then I caught Powers Boothe in it. It seems that the majority of Soviet movies were about our part in WWII, and even now they do a bunch of them a year. Cinematically a lot of them are trash, so I skipped on this one too. The question is how the hell did they get Powers Boothe?
