(major) spoilers in documentary?

I haven't seen many italian classics yet, like L'Eclisse and La Notte. Does this documentary spoil films by giving away the plot or showing key scenes? I suspect it does, but want to be sure. Thanks.

Yeah it does a little but. The documentary is more incentive to go out and rent the films if you never intended to, but if you are going to rent the films anyway, i dont know if you need to.

It gave me an introduction to italian cinema- something i would never have appreciated or sought to watch otherwise

I didn't need to watch this before gaining an appreciation of Italian neo-realism. You can read any book of film reviews and the majority of those covered by Scorcese have already been championed for several years.

Yes, lots of spoilers. Scorsese narrates the story of some films from beginning to end like a Reader's Digest condensed version. I had to keep fast-forwarding to avoid the spoilers. Stupid format, and quite annoying. Rather than trying to tell the story he should have just focussed on key scenes and discussed how influential they were.
