Question about the title

Does anyone know if the title Cecil B. Demented came from the actress name Cecil B. DeMille?

"This is supposed to be a happy occasion. Let's not bicker and argue about who killed who."

reply

Actually, Cecil B. DeMille was a producer/director/writer etc., (and a male).
Call it a play on words- "Cecil B. Demented" is what a critic once referred to the director, John Waters, as.

reply

I'm ready for my close up, Mr. DeMented.

Was wondering the same thing myself...only DeMille was a man, and a director...unless there is a Cecil B. DeMille; female actress, of whom I'm unaware, which is entirely possible...

reply

"I must've killed more men than Cecil B. DeMille."

reply

Probably no actress named that, especially since Cecil is a man's name. Maybe Cecille, but also doubtful.

there was once an article that refered to john water's as "cecil b. demented" as a play on the name of famous director, demille, and the fact that waters is absolutely insane. waters liked it, and used it as the title of his next film. i'm not sure where i heard him (waters) say that. i think it was on the behind the scenes stuff of a dirty shame. maybe...

Sacajawea and Nebecanezzer both had trouble spelling their names, much the same as this.

reply

Hahaha. I'm sorry but I found that rather amusing. Thinking that Cecil B. DeMille was a woman. I'm not looking to offend anyone or hurt feelings. I just thought that was really funny. I'm sorry.
And the line, for the record, is "Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my closeup." Not "I'm ready for my closeup Mr. DeMille." Just for the record.

"I'm jealous of girls cause they get to wear dresses."

The author of the script knew Jaybanerjee, and for some reason, "demented" kept popping into his head.

Your username is very apt.

Your wrote your post in 2005, when computers and search engines were already very fast and accurate. The number of websites alone dealing with movie trivia (including this one) numbered in the thousands, if not tens of thousands.

It took you how many minutes to type your vapid question as opposed to looking it up on your own??

Use the brain that G-d gave you. A few men who used their brains and mathematical talents gave the world the Internet, the least you can do is use it to learn about the genius that was Cecil B. DeMille.

You're fat, though.
