WOW WOW WOW!!! After all the bad comments I had read on here I thought this film was going to suck! HOW WRONG WAS I?! It just seemed to go from strength to strength...and I LOVED the end. Also think I should say that Melanie looked so hot (as did Maggie.) Very impressed with the whole film...not got a bad thing to say! Can't imagine why Melanie was nominated for a Razzie as I thought her acting really suited the part.
PS sorry if I seem a bit excited but i've just finished watching it and am on a bit of a buzz!
I'll proudly toot my horn here, but this past Saturday I was at "The Historic Senator Theater" in Baltimore - having a friend who's a friend of the proprietor, we were inside hanging out between showtimes while the cleaning staff were making their rounds. I jumped to the platform, pulled out my imaginary shooter & loudly exclaimed "I'm Cecil B. Demented and this is a *#@$% kidnapping!!!!" What a rush, managed to get a little chuckle from the folks who bore witness to my uncontrollable outburst.
Love that CLERKS quote J, one of the best in that flick.
This was a great flick as well. A real funny movie if you're a fan of cinema. Only a few things weren't great though: 1. The satanist character has to be one of the most generic in movie history. She pops into a scene, says something about satan/blood/etc, then is gone. Super cliche and lame, in a movie with otherwise great and fleshed out characters... seriously everyone but her was a great portrayal...
2. They hate bad cinema, but what about movies that are bad on purpose? The low budget (usually horror) flicks meant to be so bad they're good. Those aren't even mentioned, which is a shame cause Waters' himself made a few of them in the day
Other than those few things, this was a much better movie than I expected. Especially after I heard this movie was garbage...

Waters doesn't believe in making excuses for movies in that way... He thinks a movie is what it is, and that it can't be 'saved' by being looked at with an ironic slant.
"Even the best exploitation movies were never meant to be 'so bad they were good'. They were not made for the intelligentsia. They were made to be violent for real, or to be sexy for real. But now everybody has irony. Even horror films now are ironic. Everybody's in on the joke now. Everybody's hip. Nobody takes anything at face value anymore."
