If you watch PBS sprout, I believe the new night host is Bear. At least it sounds a lot like him. Check it out and see what you think

I totally agree. I was searching to find the guys name who does the voice for Bear & have had no luck but I really do think that the night host on Sprout is our Bear!!!!

This is so strange... first all of us parents are wondering the same thing. My husband and I were just wathcing Sprout to and knew that tha was Bear's voice... so of course I researched and found

"Who plays which characters on "Bear"?
As performed for the TV show, the main characters are as follows: Noel MacNeal is Bear, Peter Linz is Tutter and Pip, Tyler Bunch is Treelo and Pop, and Vickie Eibner is Ojo. The late Lynne Thigpen is the voice of Luna, and Tara Mooney is the voice of Shadow.

I wasn't gonna stop til I found the answer! I found it on ask.com :)

I am so glad that I came here because I had the same question. And you all confirmed it! I was in my kitchen while my daughter was watching the new host on Sprout and I swore she had been watching Bear.

It looks like the voice of Bear is Kevin Clash, who is also the voice and puppeteer behind Elmo. As well as the voice for Keiko on Oobi (Noggin), for those of you who know that show.

My daughter was devastated to find out the "girl" from the good night show was no longer on!! I am very happy that they found this person who sounds exactly like "bear". She has found him comforting. And I just love sprout!! Hooray for NO COMMERCIALS!!!

Hi we were devastated also to find out that Melanie left. Our 1 year old twins would light up when she came on the screen. Does anyone know what happened to her and why she left??

She had appeared in videos early in her career, poss. in college, that were fake Public service annoucements that being a teen parent wasn't "all that bad". They had parents that were fuming over it so they cut her loose.

It can't be Kevin Clash, so an image search on Google and you will see that it is Noel MacNeal who plays bear and who is the new host on Sprout. I thought for sure he was, so I started searching, and found this thread. Glad to have my curiosity quelled so easily!

He's also on Oobi (talking hands)on Nick, he's a friend of Oobi, Kiko(sp?).

Yeah, it's Noel. When I first saw him, I had no idea who he was, but I KNEW that voice. I just couldn't quite place it. And then I heard him sing, and I was like "THAT'S BEAR!!!"...quite embarrassing to be 20 years old with no kids and know that, lol.

Interestingly enough, he was also Magellan and Webster on Eureeka's Castle, a show I loved when I was a little girl.
