There were only 17 episodes but Penelope Pitstop also appeared in 35 episodes of THE WACKY RACES.

THE PERILS OF PENELOPE PITSTOP originally aired 1969-70 on Saturday mornings on CBS-TV. 17 episodes was the usual standard number of episodes per season for Saturday morning cartoons. Each episode was usually broadcast three times a year so that would make 51 airings (the 52nd week being Christmas Saturday on which seasonal specials were usually broadcast). The show was not picked up for a second season of new episodes (unlike Wacky Races) but reruns of the show aired Sunday mornings on CBS in 1970-71. CBS aired five hours of cartoons on Saturday mornings and one hour of cartoons on Sundays - always a half hour of vintage TOM AND JERRY cartoons and one former Saturday morning cartoon that was not picked up for new episodes but still had enough of a following to warrant another season of reruns.

I don't know where I read this, but someone was not thrilled with the opening credits because it's not the one we're familiar with on syndication. I put the DVD on and heard the non-syndicated opening music and it fell kind of flat.

I much prefer the other one we all are familiar with - with the booing and cheering - it's much funnier.

I wonder which opening music they would use if they ever release that series on DVD in Europe? Boomerang still plays the piano music, though.

Probably the version we prefer over here.
