Garfield vs. Heathcliff

i liked both, but i think Heathcliff was better

reply

Heathcliff totally owns Garfield.Heath is a scrapper and would take out Garfield in one blow.On the other hand...Riff-Raff would own them both.

reply

Yes but top cat could own both of 'em.

reply

I don't know about that...

On topic:

Yes. Heathcliff is one tough cat. He could swing away Garfield. Of course I saw, Heathcliff got a higher rating than Garfield on here ;)

Pwnsome.

reply

Fritz the Cat would own all of them.

Heathcliff is a different kind of show, more action rather than dialog. Garfield is more relaxing and more suitable to my tastes. It has also a better voice actor.

If Heathcliff hadnt got the other stupid 5 cats and marmaduke and featured only the main lead, it would be watchable. I havent read the comic strip yet

I gotta disagree with you petronius79 on who's the better voice actor. Nobody's better than Mel Blanc was. I'd say Mel's Heathcliff was just as good as Garfield (just the voices, not the cartoon). Lorenzo Music was good as Garfield and Peter Venkman(The Real Ghostbusters) but Mel Blanc was Bugs Bunny and most of the other original Looney Toons characters (just for starters).

Can't beat that.

They both are great but Garfield is better.

Garfield will always be #1

GARFIELD! HEITHCLIFF was too obnoxious for me. I used to watch his show just to see Riff Raff and The Catillac Cats

Oh man, I've always loved both! My favorite part of the Heathcliff cartoon was always the Catillac Cats. And the awesome theme song. With Garfield it was always 'Garfield & Friends,' my awesome 'Here Comes Garfield' video and a couple of others, the comics, the awesome holiday specials...hmm. I guess there was MORE with him, but they're both pretty badass kitties. And I do so love Wordsworth, Hector, and Cleo!! (I remember dying for a Wordsworth plush when I was little! I found Chip & Dale at Toys 'R' Us, but not him...awww, such a shame that Heathcliff never got much attention at all.)

One thing we can't denine, both cats had superb vocal performances for the 80s shows. Overall, I liked Heathcliff better however, eventough Garfield is more populair of the two. Sadly, it's just to bad though that both men ( Blanc and Music repectfully) are now since dead though so now all we can hear are imtators of their voices for new productions. (Other then home video or television for the repeats.)

^^^ Too true. And nothing even comes close to living up to the originals. ={

Hmmm, that's hard. I love them both as well. Awesome comics and cartoons.

I like Heathcliff the most just because I enjoy his rough and tumble attitude and the plots that matched. The first 80's cartoon rocked becuase it was simple and down-to-earth, while the second 80's series tried to create adventures that took him out of his essential element and had lame plots. At the same time I think Gardfield's environment is far more pliable and had more range to keep it going with it's sitcom setting. I too think that the earlier series, here, is better than the more recent.
