I know. They changed the price. I took too much time to get around to buying it and ended up paying the $19.99 price. I never thought they would change so I was like, 'what's the rush?'

I think Amazon might be more nefarious than what you suspect. My suspicion is that they adjust the price depending on your previous visits. If you clear your history I believe you'll find earlier lower prices are still there. They're just modified for you because you made the mistake of not buying on the first visit. I've seen this pattern more than once and found the old price by "creating" a new user with no history.

The lesson seems to be to purchase from Amazon if you like the price. Don't count on the specific offer to remain available. Computers are wonderful, right? Incidentally, I don't claim they never raise prices across the board, only that it is not always the case.

caseydorrell: Sadly it's not BS: differential pricing in ecommerce based on user history has become a well-established tool of online retailers (not just Amazon, but also for things like buying hotel rooms or car hire online). Pick up any college textbook on services marketing to see the details (e.g. Lovelock and Wirtz's "Services Marketing: People, Technology, Strategy", Prentice-Hall, 2006).

One of my favorite shows! I love the shows CBC makes, but this was among the very best. I'm perpetually disappointed that they don't have re-runs of it anymore & that seasons 2-5 aren't available on DVD. I'm now looking for a second copy of season 1, & even that is hard to come by. I want to pay them money, why won't they let me?!?

I got Season 1 from my local (Canadian) public library. I asked them about getting other seasons, byt they told me Season 1 was the only one they had released on DVD.
