This showed how police really act

Forest Whitaker perfectly displays how cops try to lie and twist their way out of *beep* that they cause. He also is very truthful when he tells the kids how gun happy the cops will be when they get ahold of them. This is really how police act and Hollywood needs to show this bad form of police behavior much more often.

it showed how bad cops act. if you think there are no good cops, you need your head examined.

^^This. And look at how Forest Whitaker's character changes when he learns the truth about what some of them went through. He goes out of his way to save them.

I wouldn't call the cops, I'd shoot the bastard instead who robbed my stuff instead. Where I live no one calls the cops, and if they did, theyd get firebombed. I know not to go to the cops, Im not one of those hypocritical college kids in the 1960s who would say f the pigs then call them if they got into some *beep* I didn't even go to the cops when someone ran into my car before so shut the *beep* up and listen before you assume anything.

I liked this film because of its portrayal of the NYPD as a corrupt entity. The NYPD is the most useless organization in this *beep* of a city, right next to the MTA. Not to mention the most trigger happy, as a New Yorker, I can assure you that if this situation had really taken place in a Queens school, the police would have bombed the *beep* out of it, with no regard for any of their lives. Including Whitaker's character.

I agree with this. I am from Spain and one time my cousins and I rented this movie, they thought they would hate it, and I didn't know, since I saw it in english but not in spanish. They ended up loving the movie, but not because of the suspense the acting (even though it was different), but the first thing they said about the movie, other than it was good was that it was truly realistic. I live next to New York, I live in MA. Now you see I think exactly that the Queens is not a place you want to live and surely agree with tall newyorker on what the cops would be like. So people really should not call cops really great people because New York really isn't one place I would want to deal with cops.

Really I have nothing against cops, surely because I myself have a few cop friends, in my town, but I really do believe is depends where you are too. But this movie was based on New York, and they surely made it the way it could be if actually that happen in real life. So people should not be telling the guy at the beginning alot of sh** because precisely cops are not all our friendly neighbore cops.

Yeah thats why the New York murder rate has dropped something like 30% in the past 5 years.

Cops are way more useful to humanity than all these useless dregs in our society like goths and gangsters.

Nothing about this movie even remotely reflects how anybody in society behaves. The actors were not even believable as human beings.

All cops are out to get you and your friends. You'd better go hide in the mountains of afganistan. I'll wait here and keep look out.

I LIVE IN NY, THIS IS HOW ALL COPS ACT IN NY THERE IS NO GOOD ONES OR BAD ONES, THATS LIFE, WERE THEY THERE WHEN I TOOK TWO BULLETS, NO THEY BLAMED ME AND TWISTED THE STORY, IN NY U DONT NEED COPS BECAUSE ITS EVERY MAN FOR THEM SELF!

Death is certain life is not.

Wow that makes me happy that I live in California. Not So-Cal, but Nor-Cal where you get understanding and effective cops. I hate it when people say FCK THE POLICE! Cuz when the *beep* hits the fan their the only ones snitching.

**Yeah, pretty late to ask...but i'd like to anyway**
ladybo454, are you rich and (not necessarilly assuming, but hey, thats how it is) white? You'd be fine in NY too,i think. Anywhere in this nation. This whole problem with cops, its everywhere. It's all shades of grey. Its who you know, not what you know, a whole lot of the times. Take TeixNYG's word for it. It's everyone for themselves. Most of those so-called cops don't care for a certain group of people, only if crimes affect their community/race. Its so hard to get cops that are real Police Officers. Not no corrupt,lazy,prejudiced,trigger-happy, right winged mud eating bastards who call themselves "Police Officers".

Nearly all cops and even politicians are like that where they will be manupilative to resolve a tough situation, they don't really give a *beep* So for those of us who have been victimized and asked the cops for help, and they never gave us any help, we have a right a to say *beep* THE POLICE(corrupt ones, not the dedicated, honest ones that are so few). Yeah, some of you complain to us who don't like whats become of the police force of when some crime's happening to us, we call them for help in the end. What some of you people don't realize is that alot of us victimized still have to call the police, regardless if they don't care and are corrupt or not. Know why? Cuz at least, they write up the report for us to tell about the crime that happened instead of us going to the precinct waiting for hours and hours in line for them to write up our incident. That's why they're still needed. *grin*

I wish the tv CSI's were real. We couldn't have to call the cops for them to find out who murdered who.

It just depends on who's actually wants to help people, or who just wants the money.

I believe there are good cops in this world, but with all of the racial profiling in this world, who knows where they are.

Then again, there are good and bad minority cops as well.
