No one picked up on scarf significance?

That he carried the scarf that whole time just to give it to Anjali as she was departing for a new life was mind blowing!!! You really have to care deeply for a person to do that! - and it seemed to fall on deaf ears regarding Anjali.

reply

I was wondering why he had the scarf with him....he had no idea Anjali would be at the camp so he either carried it with him the whole time or....actually, the little Anjali could have had it and gave it to him to give to big Anjali.

reply

good idea you came up with!

reply

After giving it some thought - I don't believe Rahul would ever take away anything from his daughter: he loved her too much to hurt her. So the only conclusion I could come up with is that he carried that scarf around with him - which also means that he has subconsciously loved her from his college days.

reply

Little Anjali doesn't have the scarf when she is at summer camp. VLUGOVSKY I totally agree with you..

reply

it's interesting how no one made an issue of this. I consider this key to the whole "love of Anjali" thing because he has carried that scarf with him for years! (he didn't carry his wife's scarf although you could argue that it became his wife's).

Indian directors are absolutely great in their penchant to create double (or even triple) meaning to scenes in a movie. For example, you see the scarf when Anjali gives it to Tina; you see it again when little Anjali walks in the train station; and then you finally see it again when Rahul gives it to Anjali when she departs).

reply

thats not what i was thinking
i was wondereing why salman had the same exact scraf in his hand during the song "saajanji ghar aaye"
what did she give it to tina... take it back..then shahrukh all of a sudden had it or did she buy another one?

reply

while that is a good catch - I think there is a simple explanation: Anjali liked that scarf and had several sets. Notice the number of red scarves that were used during the dance sequences.
However, there was no reason for Rahul to carry that scarf except that he had a deep-seated love for Anjali.

reply

did neone notice that in kabhi khushi kabhi gham they used the same scarf just b4 suraj hua maddham

reply

What sharp eyes you have!!!
Great catch

reply

wel how can he have loved anjali since highschool if he was madly in love with tina! dont forget her and i think that the scarf was carried by anjali n she gave it to her father to give to anjali. its not like he'd carry it around all the time nd the audience would'nt notice. c'mon! rahul fell for tina and as he sed u love once and he didnt really love anjali he just needed a wife and mother to his son. great film.

reply

He loved Anjali by his own admission "I can't love her if she can't be my best friend". Obviously Anjali was his best friend. Also, even Tina realized that there were very deep feelings between the two of them.
As for the "love once, etc", that is simply a self-defense mechanism. Few men (or women for that matter) really believe that they can find TWO such great loves in their lifetime. Most of us can't even find it once.
Regarding the scarf, little Anjali never had it - otherwise she would have used it in the train scene where she tried to duplicate big Anjali. It is more likely that Rahul started carrying that scarf after Tina passed away, simply as a loving connection to an old, very pleasant memory. Remember that he wanted to spend all his time with Anjali, even at the expense of being bested in basketball everyday. He cared for her so much that he had a basketball practice court built in his penthouse! He probhably didn't even like basketball as he was an avid soccer & field participant. IMHO

Aw I loved the whole scarf thing! I cried my eyes out when Anjali gave it to Tina at the train station, to hand over the responsibility of Rahul to her! God I love this movie!

reply

You might want to check out their other movies too!

reply

Huh?

reply

SRK & Kajol made 2 other fantastic movies:
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham
and
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge

reply

Yep. Seen em. Got em. Love em. Bazigaar was great too.

reply

How about Chalte Chalte? (with Rani)

reply

You should watch Veer-Zaara I love that movie!! Srk-Preity play the leads and Rani is also in the movie..

reply

I like that film, when he reads out his poem at the end in court, I howl like a baby! But I would have preferred it if Rani and Preity had switched roles, I'm not really a big Priety fan.

reply

lmao.. I know I cried my eyes out as well!!.. I actually wanted to see Rani play preity's role and see Kajol play the lawyer purely because it would have been cool to see Srk & Kajol not romantically linked.. But yer thats how I wanted the film to be like..lmao..

reply

And I wish Kajol had accepted the film Kal Ho Naa Ho and not Priety. But she was right, if she had then it would have turned out kinda like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, but there's nothing wrong with that! And I can't believe that Karan Johar didn't even offer Kal Ho Naa Ho to Rani! She and him stopped talkin for a while cos of that, well cos of the fact that Rani had to find out from someone else bout Priety in the film and not from Karan himself. Ohh kinda seem I don't like Priety at all? Cos I don't lol!

reply

I would have loved to have seen Rani in Kal Ho Na Ho!!!

reply

I loved Preity in KHNH!!.. I'm a fan of hers so yeah..lmao.. I actually wished that Rani was the doctor and Kajol was Preity's character.. I'm just glad that Kareena kapoor didn't end up doing KHNH..

reply

True bout the Kareena Kapoor thing. She's alright but if she'd gotten KHNH then I persnally would have found the character even more unlikeable.

reply

You definitely misunderstood the entire movie...
