Is this a True Sequel???

I just dont understand this movie one bit? My first intinct would be to say this is not a true sequel and has nothing to do with the original Iron Monkey. How the hell did this movie get made? Does Donnie Yen have a drug problem IRL that he has to support or did communist China force him to make this *beep*

For the love of god somebody please give me some backround on how this "movie" came to be made? Im a huge fan of the original and I can't believe I was so happy fork over $20 to buy this supposed sequel.

I have done some more thinking about this movie and here is what I came up with.

I believe this film was probably shot before Donnie was a star. They never released it because it was a P.O.S. After Donnie makes a few huge movies they realise they have this old movie they shot that wasn't released and bring it out with Iron Monkey 2 title to cash in on his fame. It happens all the time in the movie business (see Jim Carry "Rubberface" or please dont), HK cinema is probably the same.

Both films have their action, and wirework done by the same famous director Woo-ping Yuen.

Unfortunately the sequel wasn't given the budget of the original film..

The sequel was made to show in a time when "worn-torn" china is once again corrupted, the people of china will need the Iron Monkey again to repair the damage.

Actually, I like this film a lot; its definitely not the original in quality but if you pay close enough attention during the film you will see little tip of the hat scenes where they pay homage to the original.

I have heard they intended to make a 3rd Iron Monkey.

No this is not a true sequel, if you see on Netflix is the Miramax Obscure version having to *beep* themselves to make it look like a sequel, but the Miramax version is not released on DVD or blu-ray, but this film is a separate film that Donnie yen was supposed to be in a cameo role only but the role kept coming and making it the worst film ever made, when I saw the tai seng DVD edition having a person dubbing a HK actor doing fight scenes with putrid *beep* voices. But I prefer the Miramax Version, it retains the original music score, and not the English dub by tai seng but a company named Monkeyland Audio that worked with Miramax dubbed this film in English and Miramax had kept it secret for no reasons.

This can't be a sequel due to Donnie not being "The Iron Monkey" in the original; was the Doctor! This is ridiculous, but I'm going to look for it on You Tube because I love the action and how the action is produced! I can't get enough of fighters defying gravity, the trampoline and wire work, etc.! 
