I just wanna know what did I learn from watching this?
If a loved one invents a fictional person, do you go along with it because you don't want them institutionalized?

I guess that makes sense but personally I would be embaraced having a mom that invented a fictional sibling.
shareIf you love them, yes. Institutions are not for non-violent people who are able to cope within their own reality. If this mother had been put away she most likely would have regressed even farther into a non-reality and her children would have missed her presence and love. The family chose not to institutionalize my aunt who thought she had a child she did not. It did no one any harm, and she was happy with her invented child.
shareYes, I think you do, unless and until the loved one starts saying/doing destructive things like he/she starts saying the invisible person wants them to harm someone or if the loved one talks about harming the invisible person. This did not happen in this movie.
