population of blacks in rome 200ad

Wondering how much artistic license scott took here. I think subsaharan black people were almost nonexistent in north africa then.

Most black people in the movie seem to be slaves, I was more astonished by the Numidian being black.

right. they were slaves, but in that era would they even BE that far north at all?

I'm sure they took some black slaves back to Rome from their conquests in in North Africa, but that could only have been a handful.
