The book came out in 1996, movie came out in 2000. There are so many similarities, it's nuts. It definitely ripped the book off.

What I meant to say was the Game of thrones novels ripped off the Lord of the Rings novels.

The Lord of the Rings is a SINGLE novel, chopped into thirds by a craven publisher. A novel is a work that is complete in itself.
