We need a movie about a man with depression

I know there was "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", although I don't think Randall McMurphy had depression. There was also "Mr Jones" with Richard Gere. But someone should make a movie and/or a novel about men and depression.

OK then. But there should be more movies about people with mental illness.

My friend said the same but I didn't see the connection to mental illness. I missed someting. How about "Good Will Hunting"? At the end you know why Will was the way he was.

The beginning of Patch Adams is where the mental illness part is relevant.

On PTSD I'd also add
Jacobs Ladder (1990)
...for dealing with loss
Love Liza (2002) - although a flawed film, Phillip Seymour Hoffman blew me away
...for general nervous breakdown etc.
Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind (2004)
Taxi Driver (1976)
American Beauty (1999)
It's a Wonderful Life (1946)

I've only red a few posts which list movie about men with depression, but they're all fiction. We need a biography of a real person in today's (or 1960's - up) world who have depression.

It's kind of a funny story is based in real life

"Numb" with Matthew Perry.

It deals 100% directly with a man with a mental disorder that they are unable to identify in the beginning, and the way psychiatry works in this day and age along with how having a mental illness works in a relationship, at work, and in everyday life.

It's amazing. Watch it.
