Should Bad Boys II be banned?

Due to the negative portrayal of Haitians in the movie and out of respect for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, should Bad Boys II be pulled from shelves and no longer be shown on TV?

reply

oh shuddup.. this movie was made in 2003 not 2010. There's a reason why stereotypes are funny, it's usually because THEY ARE TRUE! hahah.

reply

Well I understand that it is an old movie, and we should certainly not blame the director or producers of the show. But just out of respect for the victims do you think that it should stop being aired on TV or be allowed to rent from a video store, etc?

reply

Out of respect for humanity, this movie should indeed be banned.

I hate comments and threads like this. If R rated movies offend you then don't watch them. Is this movie overly vulgar? Hell yes. Is it very violent? Hell yes. Are there offensive and profane scenes? Hell yes. Rated R for strong violence, pervasive language and sexual content/nudity. If you don't want a movie like this then read the very clear rating description on why it's R then don't watch ir

reply

How about the victims can go *beep* themselves? It's not like THEY will be offended by it, since they probably don't even know what TV is down there. Why should we care about them whatsoever? We shouldn't. Why should we censor movies because someone might be offended by them? We shouldn't, otherwise we would have 0 movies because there's a whiny bitch ready to be offended at EVERYTHING.

should any movie taking place in southeast Asia portraying poor stereotypes of southeast Asians have been banned after the tsunami? the answer is no. while this movie portrays "poor" stereotypes of some Haitians (i assume you are referring to the gangs)i don't believe it should be banned due to that. in the movie, it's not saying all Haitians are bad people, just that there happens to be a Haitian gang in Miami (which there are)

i'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say by suggesting the movie be banned

reply

Exactly, darkmantis. Like, when I'm walking with my 12 year old son, every time I see a white guy, I think he's looking at my son in a sexual way. Hilarious!!!

terrible suggestion

reply

there are gangs of EVERY culture. heck, there are probably gangs in Haiti that would make these Hatian GANGS look like angels.

reply

I actually respect your opinion. But if they did that they'd have to ban like South Park, and Family Guy from TV. And get rid of like half the comedy genre in the last 10 years.

Toy Story 3: 10/10
Mallrats: 8/10

reply

This movie should be banned for its sheer stupidity and the fact that it cultivates everything what's wrong in our world.

reply

I would like to think so. We've been very patient.

If that happened, we'd have to pull any film that talks about Nazi Germany, Jews, blacks, Russians and just about any other nationality there is. A lot of films play on stereotypes but if it's done properly, it should not offend. Why do people forget that films are for entertainment? I'm black and a lot of films represent blacks as drug dealing crack heads but unless the film is totally distasteful, it doesn't offend me. Most films represent all Russians as part of the mafia. Is that true? No. Another stereotype. Not all Orientals know martial arts but watch any film with an Oriental actor and guaranteed they'll be some type of martial arts master.

They just happened to use Haitians as a gang in this film but they could've used blacks, Asians or whoever and the result would be the same. Somewhere in the world that race would have suffered some type of tragedy so HELL NO it shouldn't be banned!

reply

I agree with you in theory... in theory, communism works!

Therefore, we must make an exception and ban Bad Boys II!

reply

If they're going down this road to not offend anyone, minus well get rid of all those Westerns that show cowboys shooting "savage" Indians, get rid of Scarface for offending Cubans (even though they were all ITALIAN actors), get rid of all those Italian Mafia movies (which are probably WAY more stereotypical of Italians and do WORSE things than the cast of Jersey Shore, yet Jersey Shore gets all of the blame) all wars/counterterrorism movies that deal with Middle Easterners, all of those espionage/corrupt US government/evil corporation movies/illuminati/CIA movies that offends the US government and people, etc. Minus well get rid of those religious movies since religions don't like other religions and atheists.

oh, and by the way, they're portraying Hatian GANGS, not all Hatians. Every group has gangs in one form or another.

reply

No film should ever be banned.

"Oh, my God. Bear is driving! How can that be?!"

reply

Ohh my god how ridiculous can you be, negative portrayl of Haitians in the movie, it wasn't portraying all Haitians as gangsters it also portrayed other ethnic groups involved in crime aswell such as Russians and Cubans and it also wasn't portraying all Russians and Cubans as gangsters either.

Honestly people like you need to get a life and need to stop taking everything personally.
