Campbell

I've seen this movie a couple of times and its quite good but can anyone tell me why Campbell gets sent to prison, I wasn't really playing complete attention both times I have seen it so I missed the reason why.
On another topic the main bad guy was so creepy and it was very irratateing the way he kept calling campbell "cameo", I was about ready to throw my remote at the tv at one point!!!

Campbell is sent to prison for aiding and abetting convicted criminals.

The movie has all the look-and-feel of a pre-1960 story. (Evidenced by Dad beating the daylights out of his son for being gay.)

I think Campbell was sent to prison because, in that gay-apologetic era, all gay characters either had to die or go to jail.

(After 1960 all gay characters had to be portrayed as flamboyant and effeminate caricatures. -- At least in Hollywood movies.)
