The teenagers say this...I really don't think this phrase was around in the '70s. Especially in Ireland.

It took place in Scotland and a lot of the dialoge was "translated" from what they actually said to an equivalent phrase in American English (like "wee" into "small" ).

It is surely harmful to souls to make it a heresy to believe what is proved

But you can actually hear them say, "Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt."

I'm in NZ and I remember that phrase from my childhood in the late '70s.
