Yes, there are subtitles -- and they're not optional, there's no way to turn them off. (At least not on the version I watched.)
I can understand putting them in for those who aren't familiar with the accent -- and even as one who has lived in Glasgow and *does* have an ear for the accent, there was still the odd phrase that I probably would have missed without the subtitles.
However I object strenuously when they insist not on transcribing, but on "translating" the dialogue into "regular" English. "That's you done" becomes "You're finished," "Gies a fag" becomes "Give me a cigarette," "Ok hen" becomes "Ok sweetheart," etc. They even translated "wee" to "little" throughout. I find this not only unnecessary, but insulting. Not to mention changing the flavour of the film. They might as well have dubbed the voices with posh English accents.
