This film

This film is probably my favourite ever. I grew up in Glasgow and although we weren't in poverty as such, parts of this film remind me of being wee especially when Ma is trying to get them all to dance and they're just not having it hahah.

Anyway just thought I'd put it out there.. this film is beautiful. I have watched this many a times and I always manage to shed a tear. I am absolutely in love with wee James although he is probably about my age now!

One of the greatest films ever made, in my opinion.
Astonishingly beautiful... I just got my Criterion copy in the mail the other day.

Yeah I agree. I have watched it around 10 times or so, and it's just as emotional every time.

Lynne Ramsay is a genius... (:

I agree. Such a beautiful film, definitely in my top five of all time. It was the first Criterion DVD I ever purchased and I still treasure it.

My mother was a Glaswegian and whilst we did not grow up there I recognised the spirit, the dancing (!) and type of personalities from her and her family. So well portrayed by the director and tenderly without sentimentality.

I totally agree with all your posts.

I'm an American (but don't hold that against me), but I visited Glasgow in the fall of 2015. It was an amazing directorial debut. I'm looking for great things from this director.
