I was going to ask if people thought her character, Lyla, was just too unrealistic. Betty meets her at the "function" along with George/David. She talks about having written a scene Betty quotes from, introduces herself as the soap's producer, *and* later, on the set, appears to be the director?!
shareShe's the head writer - which is the pinnacle in soaps. Kinnear is directing the episode Betty is 'on.' I am not sure how Janney introduced herself at the party. If she said she was a producer that's likely because she also was - they throw that credit at sometimes dozens of people in production so they can sweeten their deals.
