Where did the title come from?

I must have been asleep at the wheel last night when I watched this movie. Can't figure out what a jack bull is. Can someone explain?

When Myrl and Woody get to the auction with the horses, Woody explains to the fat man checking them in that Myrl is like a Jack Russell Terrier that when they clamp onto your throat, you have to saw their jaws off before they'll let go. Combine that with a bull and you have an explanation of Myrl's determination to get justice. (I have two Jack Russells so I wasn't sleeping during that part -- or any part for that matter -- great movie.)

It comes from the phrase, "Strong as a jack, stubborn as a bull."

Woody explains it. He says that Myrl is stubborn as a Jack Russell. "That's Myrl right now, jack russel jaw and a bull head." (Not a direct quote, paraphrasing here)
