This movie NEEDS a good subwoofer !!!

It is really pathetic seeing all the hundreds (!!) of extremely bad reviews this movie gets.

Actually reading several dozens of them I'm 100% sure none of these posters actually watched the film as intended: with a properly setup, good quality Home Theater system.

This movie without bass and surround effects is indeed a waste of time. With a proper setup there is MUCH to enjoy! The visceral bass enhanced sound effects will have you (and your neighbours) running for cover and teach you fear no 60's movie ever could induce... ;-)

Owning 1000+ movies on all the various formats this still remains one of my top favorite bass heavy movies.

Ohhhh.

So THAT'S why it sucked.
Will have to invest in a new system - maybe it's the same for Trolls2.

I so agree with the TS. This movie must be terrible viewing through the standard TV speakers, which is why I never watch my films like that. I've got a really good system, and the sound design of the film is made in such a way that it improves the overall viewing experience. I can't believe everyone rates this film as being terrible. Because once you're immersed in the most incredible surround sound and earth-quaking low frequency rumbling it becomes so hard to hate this film.

Oh and the production design is top notch too.

No. If your movie needs a state-of-the-art sound system to be properly appreciated and unless you do that most people won't like it, you have failed with your movie.

A movie should be perfectly watchable in your crappy tv set and it should be scary enough. It's great if it gets better with a subwoofer but no movie should have that as a requirement.

Movie: plot + script + acting + directing + music + special effects + sound effects + set.

Only the music and the sound effects would benefict of what you say, if the rest is not good...

this movie is insanely flawed BUT this is one of the first DVD's i ever owned and i must say it sounds damn good on a good system. i just watched it again tonight and if DVD was still the best format i'd show this movie off to showcase my system ha

You know what this movie needs? A can of gasoline and a lighted match.
