Gaping Plot Holes

I saw this laughable move tonight, coming in about halfway through... I apparently missed the classic 'wet towel' IR sensor avoidance, but from what I saw that was probably one of the more plausible moments...

Wellers son was about to be killed by the terrorists soon after I started watching, so he starts shooting terrorists to cause a distraction so his son could get into the ventilation ducts with Hannah. These are terrorists who have already killed hostages, so why don't they just start shooting hostages to force Weller to Surrender?

And why do none of the Military outside react to the weapons fire inside?

And why do the Military Bomb squad set of the booby traps in the corridor that Weller and Hannah had run through unscathed only moments earlier?

And why don't the terrorists hear the explosions from the booby traps?

And why does the US pay up even though (presumably) Berenger has informed them the bomb hasn't exploded?

The laser/mirror trick is a cliche, and a bad one. Any laser that could damage the walls as quickly as shown would probably damage any small hand held mirror just as quickly.

Overall a terribly badly executed movie.

you missed a cracker in the IR sensor. The sensor was totally ridiculous in the first place, then they blocked it by wearing wet towels on their heads, then half an hour later they revealed they could blow up the sensor and did so!
Also I liked the way the main character had no hard feelings for Daryl Hannah even tho she had double-crossed him and risked the lives of 2m people.
Oh yeah, and I liked the bit where in saving his son, he killed most of the terrorists, but then decided to bugger off again.
Very amusing film. Whoever made this was on drugs. Overdosing.

They don't have that many marines doing security in uniform like that. If there were problems with the metal detectors they would have patted down people especially men who look suspicious. You cannot get a gun nor even an assault rifle in an embassy these days or even then. The Marines would have used cover and concealment, other marines would have reacted with stronger weapons, the building would have been locked down, and the bus would never have made it over that barrier. The gunfire outside would have caused an immediate lockdown. The Guns that the "Special Forces" used were a joke! Terribly low budget, they should have known better!

Let's see....

Why are "computer experts" sent to disarm a, what, 20-50 year old atomic bomb in the first place?

Why were the terrorists the only ones alert enough to hit the lockdown button?

If Swain didn't know about the bomb, what the hell were they talking about when the Pentagon folks asked if Goran had learned "about that" at Ft. Bragg? He said, no. So Goran probably had a mole.

Goran knew his boss was a fake because he was wearing laces on his shoes. The guy had been in prison 3 months, had gained weight. What the hell was so unreasonable about the whole outfit being newly bought? I doubt the guy running out to Walmart for new shoes would have considered the guy penchant for not wearing laces.

Just where did Erica think she was going to run with under 5 mins left before an atomic bomb went off?

Oh, yeah, how did she know that cell phone was going have a signal deep down in that tunnel with only 15 seconds left?

And I'm all for being horny, but c'mon! Dozens of terrorists, a child in danger, and an atomic bomb, and every chance they get, these two take time out to make out?!?

The "mole" is pissed off because she isn't making in government work what she could in the Private Sector. What? She couldn't quit and get a job in the real world? And then only asks for $25MM
