ENDING OF BOOK SUCKED! *Spoilers*

I saw this movie first before reading the book. I anticipated the book being better having more interactions between Alix and Lee that kind of thing. For the most part the book did contain some things that I liked better.

For example, in the movie, Alix shows Mark the drawing of Lee and says, "this is the man you're so damn jealous of." I HATED that, Beauty would never do something like that it was just low and awful. In the book, Mark makes a snide remark while looking at sketches of Lee without her permission and says, "This is what you let me be jealous of?" and she gets mad. Soooo much better.

However-- remember how dramatic it was to see the painting in the movie at the end and how wonderful it was with him skating? Well, not in the book, they reveal the painting's contents kind of anticlimatically and it's not him skating!! I was disappointed.

The end... just, omg, so bad, Alix dies in childbirth, what kind of ending is that? It's not appropriate at ALL. I was very upset about it. So, I pulled out my recorded copy of the movie and watched it to console myself haha.

Sorry if I ruined the book for anymore but I did warn you.

I completely agree with you! I taped the movie when it originally aired on CBS but it cut off the ending so I read the book to find out what happened... I was so disappointed. Could you copy your tape of the movie? I would love to own it.

Hi! Did you get the copy of this movie at last? If you did, please, please sell it to me! I love to show it to my boyfriend and of course, be able to watch it again myself! My email is likaspike@ yahoo.com. Thank you!

I'm sorry, I don't have a tape, I recorded and saved it on Tivo. I haven't figured out how to transfer it to video yet. Plus, my roomate accidentally erased it on my Tivo. :( Oh well.

I haven't read the book and ordinarly I wouldn't ask but you started it so is that true, Alix died in childbirth?

reply

So, basically...they let her die...just like tv's Beauty and the Beast? Remeber when they killed off Katherine after she had Vincent's child and they tried to continue the show without her? What a truly terrible ending. The author should not have done that in this book 'Beauty'. That is very disappointing to here.

^that's what I thought about to when I read the book. The ending made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Alix would never had risked her life and the life of her baby she so desperately wanted when she was already a high risk pregnancy AND already dialating by going with Lee to the mansion. It was almost like the author was in a bad mood or had gotten into a bad break-up right at the ending of writing it and decided to butcher it. Either that or she watched the TV show BATB. :/

The death of the father was tragic enough. It was stupid to kill Beauty. It was a good book until that point, and made a very cute movie with the change of ending. My advice to anyone who chooses to read the book: Stop reading when it switches to Lee's POV last second. Put the book down. It ended there. lol.
