Why was Siro so angry at Taja's friend in Undying Dream?

Why was Siro so angry at Taja's friend in Undying Dream when he mentioned his relationship with Taja?Was he jealous that Taja was involved with someone other than him?

I should have known those alien maggots booby trapped this sub.

I always suspected that Siro was jealouse of the thought of Tarja being in any relationship.I think that was the main reason that he hated Tomas because it looked like Taja was falling for him.Maybe the writers of the show would have explored this storyline had there been a season 2.
