DVD Release Campaign

Hey all...let's focus on getting 'The Great Space Coaster' released on DVD soon. I see the last couple of posts criticizing Floridan-Italian. He's a great fan and we need him to help our cause--that is getting the entire 'Great Space Coaster' seasons released on DVD one way or the other. The Petition has been out for years and I don't know who's running it but it's definitely not working. When do they plan to send this in to the producers? This is a waste. We have to come up with a different game plan. Let's work together.

The problem is that Sunbow Productions, the company that owned the rights to The Great Space Coaster went out of business years ago. I believe that Sony or TV Loonland owns the rights to all of sunbow's old shows. The petition now has 2,627 signatures. All 7 seasons of TGSC should be out on dvd from it's entire run from the years 1981 to 1986. What do you remember the most about Frannie's teasing nature with Goriddle Gorilla on the show?

reply

Thanks...we'll look into this.

reply

Looks like the rights to all their shows are tied up right now. See below:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On June 21, 2007 it was announced that Sony Wonder had been absorbed into Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, which currently owns the US rights to the Sunbow catalogue. However, it is unknown when or if any of the shows in the library will be re-released by the company in the future.

Do you have a favorite episode of TGSC?

reply

My favorite is the time they went to the beach and sang, "The Bird Is The Word".

reply

Do you remember the episode with Frannie and Goriddle Gorilla talking alone by a hedge?

reply

Nope, don't remember that one. I have not seen an episode in such a long time. That is why I want this on DVD soon, so I can recall all my favorite scenes.

reply

Do you remember Frannie's teasing nature with Goriddle Gorilla? She used to rub his tummy a lot.

reply

Nope, I don't recall that.

reply

Do you remember Goriddle Gorilla falling in love with Actress Sally Struthers as a GSC guest star because she reminded him of the blonde girl from King Kong?

reply

The Sally Struthers one I don't seem to remember. I only have a clear recollection of the beach scene with Gary Gnu.

reply

Which female guest star on the show do your remember? Actress Linda Gray of Dallas, Mary Kathleen Turner, Loni Anderson, or Joan Collins of Dynasty? What did you like the most about Frannie on the show?

reply

Um, actually, I don't remember any of them. I don't really remember the guest stars really. I only recall the singing with the three main stars and all the puppets of course like Gary Gnu, etc.

Frannie was one of the 3 human teenagers in TGSC band. She was the 16 year old brunette singer/guitar player who used to sing as a solo in TGSC theme song: Get on board, step inside. Soarin' for a magic ride! Please sign the bring back the great space coaster online petition @ www. petitiononline.com/TGSC because it now has 2,628 signatures.

reply

Who is running the petition and when are they submitting it? What are they waiting for. No offense but whoever is running the petition does not seem to be in a big rush and does not seem like a big fan. I want to get this released on DVD and it does not seem like anyone cares.

reply

The petition's author is on the site. I can't give out the name. Do you remember Frannie's singing voice? Like when she sang Yellow Orange Day?

reply

Yeah, I kind of remember Frannie's singing voice. She had a pretty good voice. I don't remember Yellow Orange Day though.

reply

Do you remember the time where Frannie as a practical joke with her hand kept hitting a bell on a table to distract Goriddle's talk show? Goriddle yelled, Don't ring the bell, Frannie! But she kept on doing it! Frannie used to sing as a solo in TGSC theme song, while playing the guitar: Get on board, step inside. Soarin' for a magic ride! She used to rub Goriddle's tummy with her hand to be affectionate a lot.

reply

I don't recall the practical jokes she played by hitting the bell on the table. I do remember her singing but not the specific things. That was quite a while ago. My memory is fading.

reply

I know that the show is so out of date. Do you remember Frannie tickling Goriddle when they were sitting alone together by a hedge. She was wearing a gold ring on her ring finger. She was the whole show!

reply

I remember Frannie looking cute and singing that's about it. I never remembered her tickling Goriddle.

reply

I remember Frannie in one episode telling Baffle, the green caterpillar magician, Baffle, of all of the creatures in outer space you're the cuddliest! Frannie had such beautiful long, shoulder length hair and a very pretty face!

To All GSC Fans Here

I typed in the link but when I got on the site,it said that it was invalid.

Any clues as to what might have happened to the petition? Thanks for any info.Sincerely Frank R.Schoonover

reply

I think you'd better use a aearch engine to find TGSC petition. I don't know what's wrong with the link. The petition now has 2,638 signatures. Do you have a favorite GSC episode with Frannie and Goriddle besides the scarecrow one in Edison Elephant's corn garden?

reply

There were 7 seasons? I know it was on for 7 years, but I don't think there were 7 seasons. I read somewhere there were only 52 episodes produced. Anyone know?

reply

The Great Space Coaster's original syndicated run was from 1981 to 1986, about 5 years. The show began taping around 1980 at Sunbow Productions in New York. Then The USA Network showed reruns of TGSC until the year 1987. Do you remember any GSC episodes with Frannie and Goriddle? She was the whole show!

reply

Did you read on TV Loonland online that there were only 52 original episodes of The Great Space Coaster produced?

reply

That's where I saw it, yes. Are they wrong?

reply

They have to be wrong. TGSC ran for 5 years! Do you remember any GSC episodes with Frannie and Goriddle Gorilla? Do you remember the celebrity guest stars that appeared on there like Actress' Sally Struthers, Kathleen Turner, Joan Collins and Linda Gray of Dallas to name just a few? Please sign the bring back the great space coaster online petition @ www. petitiononline.com/TGSC because it now has 2,638 signatures.

reply

Actually, there are over 250...

http://www.indiegogo.com/TGSC

I had no idea it cost that much, per episode, to transfer to a digital medium - to say nothing of restoration work (as the magnetic tape degrades over time, with color bleed, loss of sharpness, etc...) And the longer it takes to get the content moved to a more stable medium (or one more easily archived) the more effort it takes, with some long-term damage being irreversible...

reply

We don't know when or if The Great Space Coaster will ever get released on DVD, so don't hold your breath.
