If anyone sees this, please read it

Hey, gang. I would like to learn about the Cold War from this particular source, so I need this question answered. There is a companion book by Sir Jeremy Isaacs and Taylor Downing entitled "Cold War: An Illustrated History" that goes to this miniseries, but it's sold separately.

What I need to know is, does the book explain the events of the Cold War more clearly than the miniseries? I don't want to just brainlessly purchase it and find out that it doesn't. However, from what I've watched of this program, there are several things which I am unable to understand (I'm not stupid, I'm only 16).

Just help me, o-tay? C ya round!

P.S.: Oh, and please don't tell me, "just read another book" or "watch another program." I want to know.

"Garbage day is a very dangerous day."

In answer to your question, I would say that the book explains the Cold War in more detail (and is well illustrated with photographs) so in that sense is a little more clear but like Sir Jeremy Isaacs definitive 'World at War' about WW2, the TV series stands on it's merits and I think the book & TV series compliment each other. I just wish they'd release it on DVD! SO yes, buy the book.

As for finding some things hard to understand, so do we all! ;-) I know you don't wish to be told to read another book but I do also recommend you read Henry Kissinger's book 'Diplomacy' or Martin Walker's 'The Cold War & The Making of The Modern World'.
